And the country will not learn of this for about a year after their first match . . . hell I didn't even know Washington (DC I assume) got a basball team until this season.

MLS and the WNBA should merge and form one big sport that nobody gives a shit about.

Illinois already has a soccer team, and I understand it's quite good.

I wouldn't watch them for the world, though.

They do have the best name in sport though.

Ooh, an Illinois suburb. East St. Louis, maybe? That would be a fantastic venue for soccer.

What would you name an East St. Louis team? The Brooklyn Crabs? The Sauget STDs?

That seems to be the prevailing idea, but it's not set in stones.

My favorite joke that we only used for one season last year was

What do the Cubs and Cardinals have in common?

Neither have won a championship in their new stadium

Obviously that joke doesn't work any more.

I'd love for Minneapolis to have an MLS team.

This is the first year of Toronto having an MLS team and it's been pretty interesting/exciting. The brand new stadium is really nice, it's been packed for every game and it's a great quasi-European like soccer atmosphere.

With that being said, I think the excitement generated by the team has a shelf life of a year or two until people really clue into the fact that they're watching a minor league team.

We have professional soccer in this country? Who knew? Shit, next I'll find out there's a professional women's basketball league or something.

My parents lived there until a year ago, and I wasn't that impressed with it then.
