Looks like they were calling it that today at the Baltimore Comic Con Mondo Marvel panel, although there's not a ton of details on it at this point...

panel recap:

Yeah, I saw it earlier. Surprised they didn't include 'War' on the title.

Are they going to be revealing more details about it at Baltimore, or do we have to wait longer?

Sweet.

I hope Bendis or Ellis is writing this.

Sweet.

Ellis writing it would be crazy. That'd be darn pretty great, even though it has like 0.000000000000000000001% chance of happening.

I imagine it'll be Bendis, since he's building it up on New Avengers.

I can't imagine Bendis wouldn't be writing it - it is his story.

Solicits are saying that that Cap #33 will be "senses-shattering" and will leave the Marvel Universe "a very different place". I imagine that's probably where Cap will come back, but I'd prefer if he didn't return for...I dunno, a couple of years at least. The MU feels like a very weird place right now, and I'm not sure he'd fit in it.

Yeah, that's my worry. IN THEORY, this could be a really interesting event, full of uncertainty. It could also get rid of lots of really good stuff.

At least they've promised that Tony isn't a Skrull. Which is good.

I'd love for it to be like a 48 page 7 issue thing with Bendis being the driving force and the actual writers being him, Ellis, Whedon, and Millar (kinda like 52) with Jiminez supplying the art. Don't go TOO nuts (like Civil War) with the tie-ins either, but I think this has the potential to be much better than Civil War was.

I'd say the best-written event Marvel's done in the past few years (I'm excluding Annihilation since I haven't read it) is House of M. Really, I know a lot of people complain or make fun of it, but when you sit back, chill and read it all together it actually is pretty damn good. The thing is, it was kind of marketed poorly. They presented it as a big, epic alternate reality event, when in reality it was a small, dramatic, personal story (with an alternate reality as a backdrop). And the reason it worked so well is because it was written by Bendis, who excels at writing that sort of story. But I imagine the Skrull thing will be very big and epic and stuff, since I can't imagine it being any other way (which I could with stories like House of M, or even Civil War), and Ellis would be perfect to write it. Or at least very good. I mean, he does rock the cock at that sort of thing.

Then again, the man can write almost anything.

The Brubaker Patriot spotlight seems pretty damn cool.

Secret Invasion's a good name for the crossover.

As you'll see in more interviews to come, the point of this is NOT to retcon other people's stories. Brian has been laying the groundwork for this for about 3 or 4 years now, which means we have plenty of stories to tell here without invalidating fans' longboxes or undoing things other people worked hard on. When the Skrull revelations are made, people are gonna be surprised!

Well, I *can* tell you that this is Brian's story-- has been for years. Make of that what you will until Monday...

Love those images, but that Unto Man one can be interpreted rather dirty... :northstr:

Hmm. I guess maybe. But to give you a little Behind The Music, that really didn't cross my mind or Ben's - we just wanted to use the "Darkseid Rules" image with "Jim McCann Rules" instead, but we couldn't find that, so we used this one.

How can it be a secret invasion if they just announced it at a major convention!?!?

Coipel on HoM as fantastic. McNiven on CW was fabulous. 'Tis now Cheung's turn to do a big event, and it would be fantabulous.
