Looks like it was a smart move for me to pick up Addai. As long as I see some Deep Red Zone Penetration for him in the second quarter.

Defense is usually the one thing Haslett gets right. But you guys have some seriously bad karma working against you.

When did Haslett ever get D right?

pittsburgh. story is that it was never really his defense in NO. Venturi, the d-coord was Benson guy.

I'm sorry, but were we watching the same game? The D might not be that deep, but we just kept the top NFC offense to 3.

I am keeping the faith - GO SAINTS!

half guard
09-06-2007, 08:38 PM
when the only real points the saints scored in the 1st half came from the defense, i knew it was going to get ugly after half time. 10-10 against the colts isn't anything to be cheery about when last years #1 offense couldn't get more than 3 points on the board.

I expected a Colts win but that was just ridiculous.

Question for those who watched it in HD, did it not look that great? I just got my HD about two weeks ago, and I've seen a ton of other sports look much much better. Hell, last week I caught snippets of some college football games and they looked leagues better than tonight's game. It just seemed like every time the camera angle changed it took a second or two to adjust. It'd be blurry/ slightly pixelated for a second and then get fairly clear. While we're on the subject anyone have a list of all the NFL games that'll be in HD this season. I can't believe a sport as popular as this one gets such shoddy presentation, and only a handful of games in HD each year.

I watched it in standard def at work, and then again in high def when I got home. Obviously the high def looked a lot better, but it wasn't as clear as most HD broadcasts are. Everything looked a little washed out and fuzzy like it had been blown up.

Every game on Fox, ESPN, NFL Network and NBC will be broadcast in HD. And I believe CBS is down to only 1 SD game a week.

Don't know where you got this "only a handful" stuff.

Oh, and I'd say that NBC's HD football was the worst last year. Although what I saw of the game (I work nights, and only had it on while getting ready to leave) the HD looked totally fine.

I don't know what it is about NBC's hd, but they've always had that whole blurry for a second and then clears up thing when they switch camera shots. it's weird.

is that the local affiliate's decision or the network's? here it's all the local affiliate. And sometimes they forget to flip the HD switch, or switch it off early. For instance on Sunday night football games last year, most weeks the HD feed became standard def as soon as the game clock hit zero and stayed that way.

The second interception thrown by Brees was insanely awful. He through directly into three defenders! The Saints looked bad last night. They still have a lot of kinks to work out, apparently.

It really did look like Brees wasn't able to throw the long ball. Almost every pass was in the range of 10 yards, and many of those were off target.

I really, really hope he isn't hurt.

I think it has a lot more to do with the Colts taking away the deep ball. Almost all of those short passes were check downs thrown when the first and second choices weren't open.

I disagree. I'd say most of the short balls were first looks.

Don't know where you got this "only a handful" stuff.

I'm a Steelers fan, and when I looked at the programming info for their games this season on NFL.com none of them had any listings for HD games. I knew that couldn't be true so I checked out some other teams schedules, and they each had a handful of HD games each. I was still in denial (because EVERY Pirates and Penguins game, which is quite a bit more is played in HD) so I did a google search of NFL games in HD. I found a few recent blog posts about people bitching that there are still a lot of games not in HD this season. After reading the posts here I come to realize that they probably meant in their specific market or were being petty and referring to the 1 game a week on CBS you mentioned. Thanks for the info it's a sigh of relief. I invited my Dad over to watch the game this Sunday in Hi Def, and if it was SD only he'd think I was crazy for buying such an expensive TV when the picture quality on his old Zenith is better.
