View Full Version : Horrortape Meltdown?

I had me some fun in the latest Mixtape Meltdown, and with October coming up had the bizarro notion of a horror-centric variant thereof. Crazy? Cool? Dunno, I just thought I'd float the idea. I have a crapload of eerie music from soundtracks and a good chunk of pop/rock/alt music that I think would blend nicely with the orchestral stuff for a scare-ifying mixtape.

I know there're some other horror geeks on the board. Anyone interested?

Considering I wanted to participate in the last meltdown, and had an impossible time trying to communicate with the person I was assigned, I'm done for it...although, I don't have a lot of horror music in the classical sense, I can probably make a relatively creepy disk.

Unsettling, creepy, eerie, terrifying...I think anything on that side of the fence would be game as long as the general horror theme shows through.

As to making sure everyone who participates gets some quid pro quo, I know I'd be down with sending a copy of whatever I come up with to anyone who gets shorted. I'm pretty sure I saw folks offering the same in the last Mixtape Meltdown, so why not here too?

I'm down, even though only got 2 CD's for the 8 times I participated. You deadbeats stink!

Dammit, you will get hooked up. If the Horrortape Meltdown happens, and I'm thinking it will, I will absolutely see to it that everyone who participates gets their share of auditory fear.

*BUMP* for the daytime horror geeks.

I wanted to do one a couple of weeks ago - but realized the last was pretty recent.

I'm down. But we might want to put a moritorium on "Halloween" popping up on the cd's.

I hear ya. I just figured that, since it sometimes takes a while to get the ball rolling on these AND to get the mixes sent off once its on...good to gauge the interest now so we could get it done by October.

I don't think that's unreasonable.

Hrm.

Well, maybe there isn't enough interest after all. We've got a nice even number at four, but is that too pathetically small for a mixtape meltdown? Probably so. It'd be more of a mixtape brownout.

Hrm. :???:

For the first time ever last time, I sent out a CD but received none in return. Unless it was lost in the mail.

Still down.

Mylazy, you want in on this? As the scarifying ringmaster behind it, I'm vowing to send out my mix to anyone who gets shafted at the very least. Now you might be all, "Dude, I already have 'Red Right Hand' and Angelo Badalamenti's haunted carnival score from City of Lost Children" (or whatever my mix ends up being)...but by god you'll get something!

And, hell, I'll even send out a copy of my last regular mixtape to anyone who participates. It's city-of-Austin-mellow, but I was purty happy with it.

You did PM the dude you were teamed up with, though, right? To see if he'd sent your mix? 'Cause I had to kick Goddard once or twice before he hooked me up with mine.

It's cool. I've still got your back when we storm the corrupt Shaolin temple.

Sweet. It's looking better and better.

Figure I'll go ahead and give this thread through tonight to land anyone else, then start an official match-up thread in the next day or so.

Also, in addition to whoever gets mine. Todd is getting one too.

Mike Black directed me here. Sounds like fun! What am I supposed to do? I've never participated in a mixtape meltdown before.

Well, normally you'd create a mix cd of random music you dig in hopes of getting another boarder to broaden their horizons.

However, this bad boy is themed. So it's all horror-theme music.

Enjoy!

Can I have someone now?
