Wow. I really thought the PS3 would be ahead of the 360 for that one month. I guess it is ahead for that month worldwide. Wii and DS of course uberalles.
I'm interested to see what affect the price cut, Madden, Bioshock, Halo3, have over the next couple months... see if the 360's numbers pick up or not. Seems to be doing better on Amazon at least, not that Amazon's a good metric...if it were the PS3 would have won July.

Well, sony did say they'd doubled their numbers for July. Doubling their numbers is...good.

Heavenly Sword: 6-7 hours single player game and no multiplayer.

The review seems to confirm what I saw in a preview last year: gorgeous graphics with repetitive gameplay. While it sounds like it's a decent enough game, it sure doesn't sound like the system seller SONY sorely needs. Ah well, maybe one will come out in 2008.

I've heard that Sony is pulling all advertising on Lair and pressuring people not to post online reviews of the game until after it is out. Again, rumors.

Somewhere recently - probably Kotaku or Joystiq - I read someone talking about how much fun Lair was and how it surprised them. They also admitted they only played for 15 minutes. But I'd like it to be true.
I'd also like for Warhawk to be a good game.
As for Heavenly Sword, I'm still lost on the idea that a 6-7 hour game is bad. I might actually finish a game of that length and feel I got my money's worth, rather than most games I buy where I get 6 hours in and realize I've barely scratched the surface and I just don't want to sink any more of my time. Then again, I might also just rent it and be even happier.

I'd be thrilled with a 6-7 hour game if it's a great experience and if it's not the game I bought the feckin' system for. But yeah it's unreasonable to expect this to sell PS3s if it's less than a 12 hour experience.

I think i saw both of them as playable at PAX last night. Maybe ill head back today and see if i can get some playtime. I should have asked some of the people at the nerd party last night. Rich and I were partying it up like rockstars. Good times man, we need to do it more often.

yeah, it was good seeing you, eb, and grit.
They did have Lair and Heavenly Sword, but you should go check out Conan. It's in the back of the hall, to the left if you've just walked in. Also, go look at N+ -- it's the boosted xbox live version of the downloadable flash game N, which is also awesome (and available at www.harveycartel.org/metanet).
Conan just looked fun. Ed played it for a while, hacking off heads and arms with reckless abandon. Looked like a satisfying and more barbariany take on god of war.
