View Full Version : The Naming of Puppy

Okay, so a mate at work has just gotten a new puppy - quite possibly the cutest puppy in the World. I'd attach a pic, but the pootas at work are faaaaarked, so I'm pretty limited with the stuff I can do in these forums. Oh well.

Anyhow, back to the point. I'm trying to convince her to name it Bendis. She's not terribly impressed with that. So I've offered these other suggestions:

Sir Barks-a-lot
Captain Cutie
Barky the mischievous puppy-dog
Doctor Doggikins
Elwood

Any other suggestions?

Oh, and has anybody out there named their pet Bendis or any other comic creator's name?

Bendis does not sound like a dog's name.

Honestly, it does strike me as a good name for a dog.

I named my dogs Sam and Ollie.

What type of dog is it? What's its personality like?

Seamus. It is just a damn good name.

if you wanna go with a nod to Bendis though, you could always go with Jinx

I name my pets after Spider-Man characters. I have a cat named Parker and a boxer named Otto.

You really need to picture the name in the various situations you'll be using it. Do you really want to yell "Come here, Beef Wellington, Anointed Knight of Barking and Humping, here boy!" every time you open the back door?

Do they not have nicknames in Seattle?

I've decided I'm going to name my pets after theatrical characters, and I'm going to start off with the theoretical ones...Godot and Harvey.

Elwood. Name the dog Elwood.

I agree. Dogs respond well to names with two syllables (or so I've been told) My dog Ringo learned his name pretty fast.

Yeah, a few people here at work seem positive about Elwood. Little does she know that I'm intending to have E L W O O D tattooed on his cute little paws!! ;)

I'm diggin Jinx!!

All your suggestions have been submitted!! But feel free to keep 'em coming.

Oh, and he's a Shitsu/chihahua (not sure if that's spelt right) cross.
