Hey all,

A few months back I asked you guys for some recommendations for bands with a catchy pop rock flavor. Bands like:

Jimmy Eat World: www.myspace.com/jimmyeatworld

Mute Math:www.myspace.com/mutemath

Half Past Forever: http://www.myspace.com/halfpastforeverband (I highly recommend the song 'Know')

So now I turn to you guys. Any bands in he same vein that you can recommend?

Thanks!

I heard a really catchy song on the way home today, it was finger eleven but I do not know the name. I hate it when songs infect my brain like that, I can still hear the beat.

This is kinda unrelated, but regardless:

So you know at every college party, there is always the dude who brings his acoustic guitar who wants to sleep with your girl? Nobody likes him and he's always playing a Dashboard song or "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer.

Cartel has officially replaced Dashboard and Mayer as the "I'm nailing your girl tonight" playlist. Last few parties I've been to, a dude will bust out his guitar and play "Honestly" or "Say Anything(else)"

Not a knock on them, I kinda dig 'em, just an observation.

That is fucking great. I love it. Especially since I can easily see that happening.

And on another semi-unrelated note- I can't fucking wait for Cartel's new release, it drops Aug 21st, have you heard anything from it yet Todd? I'm digging it so far.

And on an even more unrelated note- I am SO rocking out to "Bodybag" by Hit The Lights right now!

I heard a few tracks off the new Cartel album (it's leaked). I'm a bit bummed. Cartel works as a Pop Punk/Powerpop band with accessible, light hooks and sing-a-long choruses that everyone from 16 year old teen girls to the most hardened Norma Jean scenester can enjoy. It's unabashed, polished, well-written fluff. The few tracks I heard were a bit darkened, as if they're leaning more toward the "punk" side of "Pop Punk." It just didn't work. Just my initial response. A few more listens and an entire album will be needed to judge it.

Oh, and if you dig "Hit the Lights," try "Just Surrender," "So They Say," and "All Time Low." All three are in the vein.

I will check out all 3 of those.

I dig Lose It from Cartel's new one, it's pretty damn catchy.

I really hate that Finger Eleven has changed so dramatically, it sounds like a completely different band.

Listen to their song "Suffocate" and some of their recent stuff and you'll see what I'm talking about.
