I failed.

Miserably.

Not really a "Best of Starship" without "We Built This City", although would that classify as a Starship or Jefferson Starship song?

I believe they were still Jefferson Starship at that point.

But it's a terrible song anyway so the point is kind of moot.

that is considered a Starship song.

Micket Thomas and Co. are only legally allowed to tour under the 'Starship' name, and sing songs from the 80's.

'Jefferson Starship' contains memebers of the original Jefferson Airplane, as well as Jefferson Starship, and they sing the songs from the 60's/70's only.

You will never hear them sing anything from the final incarnation of the band.

I've glad I've managed to encourage spirited dialog about Starship. My day is complete. :D

My "Best of..." doesn't even have "Set the Night to Music" either. What a rip. I'm never buying music from Walgreens again.

figures. Count on the IMPORT CD to get the name wrong.

Other than sharing GRACE SLICK on lead vocals, STARSHIP and JEFFERSON STARSHIP are two very seperate groups.

Jefferson Starship was on the TODAY show just 2-3 weeks ago celebrating the 40th anniversary of the summer of love.

Check out there smoking hot performance!!

Diana Mangano has a great voice, too.

Y'know, of all of this, I think "We Built This City" has to be the best thing any version of this band has done.

Can someone celebrate the summer of love if they weren't born yet when it happened? That singer looked about 21.

Are you serious? Are you deaf? Are you even human? Even the band has disowned that song.

Didn't they have a contest recently where people had to sit in a booth and endure "We Built This City" being played continuously for as long as possible?

I don't think I could last 15 minutes.

No, I'm not ragging on him at all. He doesn't even like Starship, I don't think, the whole point of his post is the distinction between the Jefferson and non-Jefferson entities and the non-Jefferson kinda blows.

I have grown to like the song over the years, but that's the only one.

I remember when these four were actually listenable rock songs:

12. Layin' It On The Line
13. Find Your Way Back
14. Stranger
15. No Way Out

Those personnel changes were so gradual over so many years, I'm sure the record label doesn't really consider them separate groups and just lumps them together.

If you haven't heard Grace Slick singing 'Hot Water', then you are truly missing out.

I think that's how they figure it. I once got an import Cher CD (and it was a Cher impersonator on 2 of the tracks)
