this NEEDS to be recorded. and damn, twomorrows puts out some awesome books!
The original seven founding members of Image Comics will appear together at Comicon International: San Diego on Friday, July 27, from 10:30-11:30am in Room 5AB, at the "Image Founders Panel." The panel will be hosted by George Khoury (author of TwoMorrows Publishing's new book "Image Comics: The Road to Independence," available at www.twomorrows.com).
In 1992, seven artists shook the foundation of the comic book industry when they left their top-selling Marvel Comic titles to jointly form a new company named Image Comics. With no certainty of success, they formed a home that would allow themselves and other artists the opportunity to tell their stories without any censorship or editorial restraints. Even more importantly, Image would finally give creators full ownership of their properties. In an industry that began with artists working in sweatshop-like conditions, Image remains a living beacon for any creator that dares to dream.
Appearing at the panel will be Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino. This will be the first time that the original seven founding members of Image Comics have ever appeared on a panel together.
Join the conversation as the Image founders explore the past, present and future of Image and the comics industry. The hall has a maximum seating capacity of 500, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

What're the Vegas odds that this panel even takes place?

Well we saw the story last week where Liefeld had rejoined Image, so I guess this is the confirmation of that.

They're advertising McFarlane's panel as having a "special appearance by Robert Kirkman."

15 year anniversary of Image.
Really though, I don't think it needs a reason, a panel like that should be interesting all on its own.

Maybe one of the artists could teach both Todd and Rob to draw feet...
and how not to be dicks.

I like Larson, Silvestri & Lee but this is just retreading ground I never wanted to be stepped on. Image is a fantastic source of talent now but I can't help but remember the policy of money over story in that period. And of some of their attitudes in memorable events.
Who were the other two other than McFarlane, Silvestri, Larson, Liefeld & Lee?

it's pretty fascinating how far image has come since their beginning.
the level of quality in comics is higher now than it was 15 years ago across the board, but it's amazing that the publisher of Bloodstrike 15 years ago is now publishing Age of Bronze.

Who wants to bet me that most people who talk about Liefeld being a dick have never met him?
Every time I have seen/talked to him, he has been cool as hell. I love the pencil and inked magneto sketch he did for me, for free. No one can be a dick if they do that in my opinion....

I met him and had a great experience. He was friendly and did a Captain America head sketch for me.

I have several times and he was rude to me each time.. until the time the person he was begging for a job from turned to me, had a quick conversation (clearly showing that we were friends), then turned back to rob and said bye... at THAT point, Rob became much nicer to me.

I don't personally know Liefeld, so I can't say if he's a good guy or not.
All I can go by is what others have said about him. Erik Larsen says he's a good guy. Rick Veitch doesn't have a high opinion of him.
In the end, it's a matter of perspective.

Quoted for truth. Some of the early stuff (which I will admit to buying) was pretty darn embarrassing, but in the end, Image became exactly what they wanted to be, and the industry is the stronger for it. These guys deserve credit.

When I was 12 my pull-list (at some point) literally was "everything image". Scary. Brigade, Bloodstrike, Bloodpool, Boof, Boof and the Bruise Crew....and those are just the B's!
