Wooooohaaaa! Welcome everyone to my new forum (Thanks Brian)! I’ve wanted to do this for years but I was never quite up to the task of maintaining a newsgroup. I’ve been in art warrior mode for about 6 years straight, and “Paint or Sleep” has been my undying creed. But, since I became a daddy in August, I’ve had a new outlook on life and I think I’m ready to take this on now! I hope everyone will bear with me this first month as I get used to the forum.
I’m glad to hear all the positive comments on my She-Hulk covers, and you may have noticed my different approach to the last half of these covers—this is that new outlook I was just telling you about, and I started doing these covers a little while after the birth of Andrew and Madison. Everything is fresh in my mind and… better. I guess they are like creative fuel. With her green-ness I’ve been able to explore my art in a totally different way from Elektra and Emma Frost. Certain characters can limit what you can do with them artistically (like Elektra who is just a stone-faced killing machine for instance). With She-Hulk, Dan Vandersloot kept the crazy ideas comin’, and every month was a surprise—very inspiring! My run on She-Hulk is over now, >sob< but I’ve recently taken up the cover duties on Ms Marvel, so things are not so bad are they? Anyway, a great thing happened last month with Ms M: I have my own personal “must draw” list which contains many Marvel characters (mostly Avengers) and on this month’s Ms Marvel cover I got to paint one of them: BEHOLD….Le TIGRE!!!!!

See how the tail goes through the hole? Sh-nice.
Here is what the cover looked like BEFORE Brian Reed mentioned that the scene could take place in a jungle (I added the background in that same day)

YAY! Good to hear from you Greg! Hope to see more of you on the other boards, how about on Dan "the fan" Slott's board especially since we're nearing the end of both of your runs on She-Hulk?

yeah, I'll get on Dan's board soon enough--Brian reed too since we work together on Ms marvel now... I'm a little slow at the moment--I'm doing the "mad month" right up until San diego--8 covers in 4 weeks!
pray for my sanity.

Not if you're french, mon ami!
I was making a cultural reference to some cheesy shirts from my childhood... the ones with the tiger symbol on them. They made me laugh because "Le Tigre" sounds hoighty to me.

She probably needs help--I'll give her your phone number.

Very nice. I like the persepective of the tail right in the reader's face. But I'm sure that's one cat's tail you wouldn't want to pull.
