Unfortunatly, I took no pictures but here are the "tales from the drunkard".
FRIDAY
08:30 - Wake up and set off to arrive at -
13:11 - On the way into the Hotel I walked past MAO and was suprised to see he was smller than anticipated. Didn't say anything - there's all weekend. Just get checked in and get rid off the huge bags. Upon entrance to the hotel - headed straight to the bar for a couple of pints while we wait for the checking in time. See Gav Brown come into the bar area looking as his name suggests - very brown. He doesn't spot me, I carry on drinking.
14:00 - Shall we check in or get another pint? Guess which one won out. Gav spots me during the third pint and comes over for a quick chat. To the room when finished. Bags in, clothes hung, back to the bar.
14:45 Went for a walk around Bristol scouting for pubs for the night session and looked for Forbidden Planet. Couldn't find it. Had a Jalfrezi for Dinner and went back to the hotel for another 5 pints before retiring to the room, to get changed for the night. I briefly met Nick T who introduced me to phil. Breif chat with Phil.
20:00 Out around Bristol. Hit a few pubs and a nighclub. Got a kebab. My friend Jamie and I disagreed on which way it was back to the hotel so we split up and went our own way. I walk through a couple of Hotel grounds and then down an Alley to come to a locked gate. Climbed over a tall wall and cut my finger. Ahhh, I was going in the right direction - the hotels just across the road.
00:30 Back to the Hotel bar for a last couple before going to bed. Jamie eventually joins me after resorting to getting a taxi.
SATURDAY
09:30 Con starts in half an hour - feeling terrible. Decide to stay in bed a bit longer.
10:15 Decide to get up and go to the con. Still feeling terrible. Eventually make it to the con for
11:00 A quick walk around spotting points of interest to come back to and examine further when I'm not feeling so terrible. Walk past the Starhyke table and see Rachel Grant. OMG, she is easily the most stunningly attractive woman I have ever seen in the flesh. I buy 3 prints for my room. A couple of comics. Possibly things I wouldn't have had I still been sober. Walk around a bit more before coming back to RACHEL GRANT again. Repeat like the worlds worst stalker and left for our first panel at,
13:00 Leah Moore talking about Albion. Still feeling a bit ropey. Not really all that interested. Go to the bar and try a drink. Takes forever to get through.
14:00 Some other talk. Can't remember what it was but we left and went back to the con. Que more RACHEL GRANT stalking. More comic buying. See Carlos and was going to ask him about the Millarworld Table, also saw Gav Brown. Carlos was talking to someone so I talk to Gav. He's in a que for a MAO sketch. Too long. More walking around, and if you haven't guessed yet, walk past the Starhyke table again.
17:30 Go to the Hypoyheticals 6 panel. Felling a lot better and have 3 pints during it. Great panel. Budgie is as good as always. MAO provided some entertaining moments. To the Hotel bar after that and bump into Gav again and spend the night with him and his friend. Nick T and Phil made some appearances and stopped by for a quick chat now and again. Diana showed up and introduced herself. Didn't speak to her much. Gav Brown decided to come with me to get a kebab but instead I take him on the Annual "Get Lost Around Bristol" trip. Back to the Hotel bar for one last pint and retire to bed.
SUNDAY
11:00 Off to the con again, and do I really have to tell you I did? See MAO signing again, queue too long.
13:00 Marvel Q&A panel. Pretty uninformative. Start with the drinking again. and stay with the panel and into the next one at
14:00 Starhyke panel with the lovely Rachel Grant. Get some more beers in and setlle down for an hour.
15:00 Back to the con where we bump into Gav, Nick T, and Phil again. Nick tells me that he introduced me to Tom (Futsur? I'm going to guess) I haven't really talked to him on the board that much and apparantly I didn't speak to him last night. Life imitating art? Nick comments on my drunkeness and suggests that as a new gimmick, I should just become "the background" Hang around, quietly humming some muzak. An idea I may develop.
16:30 Train comes and it's off home.
20:00 Back home and it's off into town for some more drinking. The first couple are a bit of a struggle but it's getting easier with each drink.
00:00 Back home and check out the Bendis board. See what I've missed and catch up on the 15 or so pages I've missed on the kubiak thread.
02:30 Bed.
