No, not the Kylie thing but DONNA is back as the new companion!

Good lord.

Pia, does the link have spoilers? I'm watching on CBC, so I'm further behind then you I'm guessing.

Ah fuck it. She was probably the character I've liked the least out of the entire series so far.

Balls :(

CBC has already shown Runaway Bride so no spoilers.

I had a hope that since the Titanic was mentioned by the previous Doctor, we might see an Ecclestone/Tennant meetup. Instead we get Kylie and Catherine Tate :)

I'm sure the 9th Doctor will get a mention but he wasn't on the Titanic, he only talked a family out of getting on board.

I would prefer:The master, but he died.

I liked her in that episode but that episode sort of made it clear she couldn't be the companion. Maybe her life has changed a little bit since that fateful day.

True, but it seems quite RTD to have something happen in passing and then use it later on.

Also, from Wikipedia (Which means little I know, but eh :)):

This does not appear to be the Doctor's first encounter with the Titanic. In "The End of the World (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_of_the_World_%28Doctor_Who%29)" the Ninth Doctor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninth_Doctor) stated that he had been onboard an "unsinkable" ship and that he "ended up clinging to an iceberg". In "Rose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_%28Doctor_Who%29)", Clive shows Rose evidence that someone that looked like the Ninth Doctor prevented a family from boarding the ship. The Doctor has also been on the Titanic in novels (for example, the Seventh Doctor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventh_Doctor) in the Virgin New Adventures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_New_Adventures) The Left-Handed Hummingbird (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Left-Handed_Hummingbird)), but the canon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_%28fiction%29) of the novels is in question.

The article also says Freema Agyeman will be back mid-season, and that she'll be in three episodes of Torchwood.

I think they would keep a 9th/10th Doctor crossover under wraps.

No, they'd leak it and flat out deny it was happening. Like John Sims as the Master, Kylie guest starring and others I can't remember off hand

Her? I really didn't like her. I know that her character was supposed to be annoying, I just hope they don't write her that way for the whole season.

Well, I felt the same way about Billie Piper before I watched the show and ended up loving her as Rose, so maybe we'll be surprised.

They've teamed up many times in the old show. Watch for the Master in seasons 8-10 of the old show. He was in almost every story back then.

Eek i pitty you. Those where the worst episodes of the season, not so much the dialog as such but the entire concept just seems wrong and a it of an insult to some much loved foes.

Its a shame the same writter has been given another 2 parter next season. Just hope that the concept is better.

You guys don't have a clue, Tate is a spectacular actress in her own right and I'm thrilled she's going to get the chance to show off her skills and add some depth to Donna.

(Although part of me suspects this is a hoax to cover up the identity of the real new companion. Hmmm)

Really?

"Remember the Axons?" was quoted last saturday.

Roger Delgado (the Master) was John Pertwee's (the 3rd Doctor) good friend. When Roger died in a car acident in 1973, Pertwee was floored. He thought Doctor Who was'nt as fun anymore so he quit after season 11.

She plays off of Tennant spectacularly. For example, the Red Nose Day sketch. I have a feeling they'll tone her down a bit for the series, so this is something I'm rather looking forward to.

She does. See I'm assuming she won't be the bitch she was when she met The Doctor. She'll have changed a lot especially because of that day in her life.

Yeah, but the big problem for me is that she's not that much to look at. Call me shallow, but I want someone attractive traveling with the Doctor.

Hey you, Shallow. :p

Maybe she isn't the hottest woman on television, but she's not unattractive either. And she's a funny actress to boot.

Not happy, but I'll reserve judgement till I see it. At first I hated the idea of Billie Piper (for those who don't know she was teen popstar here in the UK).

My concern is that she'll steal the spotlight too much. But hey, the writers have done a good job balancing it all so far, hopefully they'll continue.

just please PLEASE don't have be in love with the Doctor - we've done that sooo much already.

This is kinda weird, but I guess I don't mind too much. She wasn't that bad in the christmas episode and since that's the only thing I've seen her in I don't really have any objections to her.

I would have preffered Sally Sparrow, though.
