Please tell me I'm not the only board member here that has played this epic game? And if you have, have you played the second one?

I've played both numerous times and I love them more and more each time. I'm just pissed at the lack of Shenmue III news.

I watched a buddy play #1 back in the day. It seemed cool to me.

And I LOVE my dreamcast!

I love the idea, but I've never seen it for myself.

I watched my brother play it. It seemed tedious.

I got a job at the docks and kept waiting for an event to triggger but nothing happened. I even beat that race.

Yup, my wife was really into it.

It's on the Xbox, and compatible for the Xbox 360.

Some people still hold out hope for the 3rd one to hit the console.

Played the first, still have #2 in shrinkwrap for the Xbox.

I thought it was funny that the guy would walk around and ask everyone about "the incident."

I really loved the first one when I started playing it, but eventually the execution wore on me. I own Shenmue II but have never played it cause I never bothered beating Shenmue I. Awesome soundtrack though

But seriously, I love this game more than 3/4th of what's come out this decade. I'll always have a little bit of hate in my heart towards Sony for stealing this game's thunder.

I played the original. It was a good and innovative game, I guess, but it just got old to me, and fast. I blame that on my attention span, though.

And my Dreamcast... *kisses it and hugs it* If only the controllers weren't so painful to use...

I really liked it but reached a point where I got stuck and stopped. That was like three years ago.

i think i'll eventually go back and play this. I really wanted to but this and fable were on my xbox list to play and i never got around to them. I regret not playing either of them to this day.

Oh and also i loved dreamcast and most of the games that launched for it. There are times when i wish i had not bought the ps2 over the dreamcast because there was some magical games for that system.

Great video!
I played Shenmue to death when my Dreamcast was working back then. I finally beat it and waited anxiously for part 2 to come out. I may buy it this time now that my brother doesn't use his old XBox anymore.
Great game.:)

I remember watching my friend play this game for hours, literally, in which he would walk all over that goddamn town (which was monotonous and excruciatingly slow), spend hours asking townsfolk for clues and work the docks...then hit a tree...over and over...

It was painful. Then, when I would eventually get him the hell off my Dreamcast, I'd throw in Sonic Adventure, Power Stone or House of the Dead 2, you know, games where you did stuff you couldn't do in real life. Fun times.

I still have my dreamcast and haven't played it in at least four years.

The first game was a masterpiece, one of Sukuzi's best creations. But the sequel was terribly disappointing. Suzuki's actually working on the final game of the trilogy, but I'm not holding my breath.

I played the original on the Dreamcast. Never played 2.

I played the first one when I had a Dreamcast but never had a chance to play the second one and yes, it's sad to admit, but there will never be a Shenmue 3.

I replayed both games a couple of months ago. Still pretty fun. I do agree that it can be a bit tedious...

It can, but it's one of those games you have to keep the mindstate of how utterly innovative and original it was when it came out. Shenmue 2, not so much, but the first one.... damn..... I can't even begin to count the nights I blew off my girlfriend and friends to play that game.

originally it was supposed to be something like 13 chapters long.

Yes there will. :) Don't know when it'll be done, but Suzuki is hard at work at it.

I think any conclusion to the Shenmue series seems unlikely at this point - a pity as the end to volume 2 was terribly anticlimatic. Good pair of games, though. Played through them a few times. And I don't think people give Shenmue II enough credit - there is SO MUCH in it!
