Here's some pages I just finished for my next book, Soliloquy (Hamlet). There's some tweaking to be done but I figured I'd show the "initial" draft to get some feed back. Even if it is a friendly "you suck". :)

Pretty cool. The gun could use some work. The first panel it's in, I thought he was picking up a book

I like his face. It's a lot more detailed and subtly expressive than anything I've seen you do before.

Yeah, that's one of the things that needs to tweak. You're not the first to say that. I'll probably scrap that panel altogether and draw a new one.

Okay, I just got a tip on how to make the blacks look better. I'm going to fix that gun tonight and rescan the pages tomorrow to make them look better.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Nice to see my 3.76 fans flourish!

yep
it was in Comics and Sequential Art

brilliant
if a little long
he did the whole soliloquy to show the various range emotions that can be achieved by combining body language, facial expression, pacing, layout, storytelling, and page design

Why am I not remembering that? I read that book and I am drawing a total blank on that part. Maybe I'm thinking of a different book.

Well, in any case, I'm doing this more as a personal exercise to try and expand my own storytelling skills. Hopefully no one plans on comparing me to Eisner as I will fail on every possible level and see it more as a personal performance piece of someone trying to expand as an artist. I plan on doing other soliloquies as well from MacBeth and Richard II.

After I'm done I'm going to have to try and get a copy of that book from the library. It's been a few years since I last read it. Man, why am I not remembering that part? I suck. :?

Slightly off topic, but I instantly thought of this Onion headline (http://www.theonion.com/content/news/unconventional_director_sets).

Just letting everyone know I finished this tonight and it will be available at Chicago, as will hopefully another book I am starting tomorrow.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

...does it cost more than a dollar?

Actually, no it doesn't. Seriously. :)

Put one aside for me then, and one of the other thing. I won't be in Chicago, but I guarantee I'll buy them from you somehow.

Edit: I would have regardless of cost (assuming you kept it reasonable) anyway. Under $1 is crazy!

It's only 10 pages, so there's no way I'd charge more than a dollar.
