Okay, now I'm off to pick up Her Highness.

Thankfully, it's not a skeevy bus stop. The shuttle bus she takes actually lets her out at a nice hotel just outside the Space Needle. She's in a comfy part of town if she has to wait. But she will almost certainly not be there yet when I arrive.

In fact... maybe I'll bring the lappy for some wifi postin' (non-Tom) in case I have to wait.

I still feel he'd do great with arrested development writing/setting. I'm reading pure drivel right now and I'd say it;s better then alot of his movies in the past couple years (still liked bowfinger). yes the wacky steve is over but it seems his comedic ways could still be there in some respects. sadly it looks like the time he can regain that might be coming to a end. but I have faith you might even say a leap of. wah wah waaaaaaaaaah BEACHES!*

*note this is from a prior call with a friend which in fact we did do alittle stewie talking about novels bit there somewhere along with the movie beaches. guess which one of us has actually seen the movie.

Oh, and I don't want to get all melodramatic (or is it AAlodramatic?) or anything, but I think this is my last night (if I end up playing tonight) of playing Gears as consistently/regularly as I have. Maybe at all, but just for a while hopefully.

It's really taken too many of nights up. I just noticed that I play a few times a week too many and I think I need to sort of take a step back so that I can work on other things like writing or, well, sleeping.

It's not you guys, or anything. You guys rock.

Cool. I was afraid I said something dumb, I was sooooo sleepy last night. Exhausted week for me.

And yeah, Gears is a seductress. It's so fun, but in the morning I'm sleepy and rushed because I was up too late and have nothing to show for it. I used to read and listen to music and play with the pets and stuff.

The best thing about Gears for me is hearing you guys, 'cuz you're always in great moods. At work (Dan and Edwin aside), almost everyone is into drama and gossip and complaining. It's soooo good to hear you guys laughing after a couple days of bullshit.

I honestly just need to work on my writing more. As it is, the board eats up a lot of my time, so I can't have two places that suck the hours away.

It was pretty poorly done.

Getting rid of Wally in the first place was a mistake. Stealing Bart's years was a mistake. The chick from the O.C.'s family being the original creative team on the relaunch was a mistake.

Then... Guggenheim made Bart-as-Flash cool somehow!

Annnnnnnd... DC tore the axel off. As they always do.

Killing Bart was a mistake, and bringing tired-ass Waid on is probably a mistake.

It'll be cool to have Wally back, but the Flash history is soooo convoluted now. Of course, Bart will be back. No one ever said the Bart who reappeared with Superboy Prime was THIS universe's Bart. This is a prime example of why DC should be mocked.

Wally's daughter will pick up the Kid Flash mantle before year's end. DC just can't let a trademark sit, they'll slap a story together rather than wait for a good story proposal.

There should be room for Jay, Wally and Bart. Even Wally's daughter. Maybe even Barry. But they'll pile shit on top of shit, until Geoff Johns gets called in to spin gold out of it.

Didio should not be in a creative industry. No way.

I'm totally with you.

Bart was such a unique character. It was great seeing someone who was seen as a sidekick compete for attention, as Kid Flash, then accept the responsibility of the mantle without question once he was the Flash. It was a poorly executed death, as Bart seemed to have a death wish instead of being "impulsive".

And if there's room for all those Green Lanterns, Bat-Family members, and other such nonsense, then there's room for more than one Flash. They could have brought Wally back easily, and made a story where he and Bart had to deal with each other being the Flash and who would step down, if at all. They could have challenged themselves to actually make the mistake work for their favor. But instead, we get COUNTDOWN(!) and another dead Teen Titan.

I was telling my friend, "this is what being a JLI fan must feel like".

And, also, poor Tim Drake. That guy has gone through just as much loss as any other comic character imagineable. His first love (Spoiler), his father, his step-mother (presumably), almost his big brother (Nightwing), turning his good friend evil, then not evil, then sort of evil because we haven't made up our mind (Batgirl), and killing his two best friends in one of the more violent methods I've seen in comics (Superboy and Impulse). What else can they do to this kid?

Blandy vs Terrorism

I'm still not sure how I feel about the Flash thing, other than at least being optimistic for Waid to be back on it. Of course, I haven't gotten to read more than one issue of Guggenheim's arc (no use calling it a run when he only had 5 issues). Whether the company line is true or not, though, the whole thing was handled extremely shitty, and I want my money back for the 9 issues of Bart that I did buy.

Edit: And I'll say again...if I were Johns, I'd be kinda pissed as well, just for the work he put into those two characters in Teen Titans.

Another good point. It's one thing for Batman to have a defining moment - his parents killed - but Tim has about SEVEN defining moments. All because editorial was asleep.

Marvel's in the same danger, especially with Spidey. It's been so long since Spidey did some web-swinging and cracked jokes to himself and punched out Electro. THAT'S what people like about Spider-Man (and most comics).

When great runs on main titles are discussed, they're not depressing, trade-length arcs where the hero is put through hell (or crossovers). They include iconic, fun, standalone stories. It feels like we're getting away from that. We're grimmer and grittier than ever.

I wouldn't say editorial is asleep, at least with DC, but I just think they're out of touch with what's good for their characters (which, I totally think is the height of arrogance of me to feel, but what can I say, I love me some DC characters). I really think that DC is pushing their characters into these holes that are not only hard to get out of, but they somehow find a way to pretty much wipe away. Have a problem? Retcon! Prime punch! Ignore it!

For example, Tim's step-mom, to my knowledge, was never really acknowleded as having died in Bludhaven. Tim never took the time to really address it, and that is completely because no one was interested in telling that story.

Have problems with continuity after having revamped, rebooted, and re-addressed characters or issues? Prime punch that shit to sleep!

I know I may be in the majority with the TIP thread, but I at least like Marvel for having the stones to stick to their guns. They give Cap the boot, and look what we get out of it. An absolutely stellar run of Captain America which is pretty much being left alone. It's addressing the new status quo, but they're giving the book room to breathe so it can tell it's story. They're trusting Brubaker with the character, something DC doesn't really seem to do with anyone (including Johns, their golden boy). And I actually like the new status quo at Marvel. There are some misfires (parts of Slott's Initiative, JMS's Spidey, and the fact that the X-Men took a complete pass on the entirety of Civil War events), but overall I think Marvel is doing something really great here and we're on the cusp something really great and different. With DC, we're leading into another event that may be fun, but will ultimately not push anything but the reader's patience (with teases of more deaths as being a reason to pick up their books).

OH! And one last gripe, I hate that the Black Canary and Green Arrow are getting married. It feels just as forced as Storm and Black Panther. Hopefully they make it work.

Ugh, I hate it when I become that fanboy.

Honestly, if the theater wasn't 110 degrees and filled with assholes, it would have been a better experience. I can't really blame the movie. It was entertaining, but the experience of the theater ruined it for me.

I did enjoy it actually - now that I have cooled down and changed my sweaty t shirt. It was just a repulsive theater experience - and that fucking movie is LONG. 2:10 actually.

Anyways, Willis was funny, shit blew up, Kevin Smith was cool, more shit blew up, etc.

Fun times actually.

(See how a man can change when not under undue stress brought on by piggish people being blatantly annoying while the temperature of a theater rises with the obnoxious talking amongst its patrons)

Yeah, the theater thing is finally affecting me. I don't drive and neither does Jessica. The good theaters are all just out of reach, unless we wanna bike 25 miles and leave our bikes locked up at the movies for 2 hours.

So, I could see this in the hood and get all pissed off... or I could wait for the DVD. I got lucky with Spidey 3 and Ocean's 13, they were at an arthouse for some reason.

Anyway, about the spoilers...

Hollywood hasn't figured out that computers just aren't exciting on-screen. I am at a computer all day. There is no way to jazz that shit up. "Hack into the CPU. I'm rerouting the firewall. The mainfraim's crashing! Reboot!" There's just no way that's gonna be fun in a movie.

I just thought the movie never did anything epic enough to be more than an extended episode of the old TV show. And worse, it rehashed plot from one of those episodes.

I also don't think the music was too hot this time around. The title track is rad, though. "Classico" and "History", too... but they're oldies.

EPISODE IX:

THE RETURN OF THE JODI

Chapter 30.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/215514_1.jpg
HAN SOLO: Awright, start talking you old fool, before I blast your ghost-balls off.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/f9624743.jpg
OBI-WAN KENOBI: **sigh** It was right after Anakin and Padme got married, at the start of The Clone Wars. I was a young man, after all, and she was smokin' hot. I'm not proud of what I did, but...

*********OBI-WAN BEGINS FLASHBACK********
(set immediately after Episode II)

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/b249d277.jpg
OBI-WAN: You're... pregnant?

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/c8abdc42.jpg
PADME: **sob** I thought... I thought you said Jedi's didn't need to wear condoms, what with all the radiation from the lightsabers and all... Oh, Ben...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/160640316_small.jpg
OBI-WAN: Well... Listen, clearly a Jedi and a Senator can't be seen going to have an abortion. The tabloids would have a field day with that one. You're gonna have to take a "fact finding" mission to say, Corellia, and have the baby there. Dump him in an orphanage and then come back.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/c8abdc42.jpg
PADME: Corellia? Their orphanages are all run by Wookies! Besides, Anakin is all over me these days. There's no way I could up and go to Corellia for the next five months.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/f4706b2a.jpg
OBI-WAN: You leave my Padawan to me, Padme. Young Anakin is so desperate to prove himself, he'll readily accept command of his own squadron in The Clone Wars. He'll be quite busy for the next five months, I assure you.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/c8abdc42.jpg
PADME: All.. all right. I'll go to Corellia, and I'll return after I've given birth to our son. Anakin must never know, the little psychopath. This must end, though, Ben. We can't see each other anymore.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/33248267.png
OBI-WAN: Agreed. You were amazing in the sack, though, your highness. Hey, by the way - if you have to fill out any paperwork at the orphanage... and they ask who the father is... just do like Shmi Skywalker and say you had the kid solo. OK? Solo. Solo... solo...

******FLASHBACK ENDS*****

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/9ae10f44.jpg
HAN SOLO: Waitaminnit... What're you saying? ...You're my father??--

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/f9624743.jpg
OBI-WAN KENOBI: Of course! You, Han, were "The Other" that Yoda and I mentioned on Dagobah. Not Leia. I mean, c'mon. How did you think you navigated that asteroid field? What did Threepio say the odds were? 3,720 to 1? Only one strong with The Force could have done that.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/24dfdeaa.jpg
PRINCESS LEIA: But... if Han's mother is Padme, that means...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/f9624743.jpg
OBI-WAN KENOBI: Yes. You have now been intimate with both your brother AND your half-brother. I'm so sorry.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/178f7a90.jpg
R2-D2: Booooo-DOOOOOOOOO!!!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/79d9a58e.jpg
LUKE SKYWALKER: There's more, though, isn't there, old man? ISN'T THERE?! Tell them about the Midi-Chlorians!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/f9624743.jpg
OBI-WAN KENOBI: **sighs again** Midi-chlorians have nothing whatsoever to do with The Force, of course. Midi-chlorians are a date rape drug that Jedi's use when we have to... release our built-up needs upon some slave wench on some dustbowl, backwater planet. The drug also removes all memory of our impropriety from the victim's mind.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/79d9a58e.jpg
LUKE SKYWALKER: That's why Grandma Shmi couldn't remember who knocked her up! It was YOU, wasn't it, you sick son of a bitch! You're our Grandfather!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/24dfdeaa.jpg
PRINCESS LEIA: I... I think I'm gonna be sick...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/79d9a58e.jpg
LUKE SKYWALKER: And Padme was gonna tell Anakin everything, wasn't she? That's why you KILLED her!

*****LUKE TRIGGERS FLASHBACK TO BIRTH OF PADME'S TWINS*****
(set during the end of Episode III)

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/8678d1f7.jpg
PADME: Leia... her name is Leia.... Luke and Leia...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/9639c934.jpg
OBI-WAN: Great job, Padme. Now rest. I'll take good care of your twins. Trust me. **waves hand**

***HOURS LATER***

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/1ac6a4ea.jpg
MED-DROID: Medically, she's completely healthy. For reasons we can't explain, we are losing her.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/ben.jpg
OBI-WAN: I see. That's terrible. **continues Force-choke**

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y75/pppzone/Star%20Wars%20VII/cbb6d260.jpg
PADME: **choke** **dies**

Sweet! I really can't wait to hear what you think.

I threw some jokes in, but I truly believe the character I "out" as having the Force was what Lucas was originally setting up in Empire, before going with Leia-is-Luke's-sister-now-and-she-has-the-force in Jedi.
