My 15 year old sister accidentally texted me asking if she should hook up with Reed. It was 2am and I was drunk at Denny's. So I called her phone repeatedly and eventually this fucking Reed guy picks up. Fortunately there were a handful of other voices in the background, so unless there was an orgy going on I don't think my sister was being nailed.
Still, though, I put the fear of God into that kid. Now I have to call my parents tomorrow and find out why their daughter wasn't home at 2am.
And boy do I want some of that Holy Grail Ale.

I also have about 100 pairs of socks, but that's because I'm always getting socks as a gift...I don't seek out socks the way I do underwear.
I have 17 socks.
Man I wish I had some more socks. I am constantly wearing mismatched/one clean one dirty socks. I think, total, I have four or five pairs of socks. It's a dilemma that plagues me every fucking morning and it could be solved if I just went out and got some new socks, but it always slips my mind while I'm out. I think this stems from me always receiving some socks as a joke gift from my parents until I was 20. Now I'm a victim of sock disappearance and am down to a very small number of mismatched socks. It's really very troubling.
So, can I borrow some socks?
And somewhere, an orphan sock finds itself in a life of prostitution...
You can have some socks. I'll put together a care package. But I warn you that I have fairly large feet, and thus my socks are big.
Sweet. The bigger the sock, the larger the cum-capacity. That's what I say.
Uh...you don't need to return them. You can keep them.

I'm so not a Confederate it's not even funny.
Fun historical tidbit about my family: My great great grandparents actually hid their teenage son in a hollow tree to keep him from being conscripted by the Confederate forces.
(On that day, Keebler was born.)

Cloak coverage draws poor parallels to Star Trek
The Chronicle's recent comparison of the "invisibility cloak" to the "Starship Enterprise's cloaking device" suffers from yet another case of inaccurate reporting in the media-fueled hype of the so far benign research project ("Duke scientists work to imitate 'Star Trek,'" Feb. 20). It would be more appropriate to attribute the cloaking device to the Romulans or any of the other races that used cloaking technology regularly; while some of the various incarnations of the Enterprise have used a cloaking device on isolated occasions as a temporary measure (Most notably the original Enterprise in "The Enterprise Incident"), no Enterprise was permanently outfitted with one aside from the alternate future "Enterprise-D" in "All Good Things...". (Of course, in the canonical timeline the Enterprise-D was destroyed in "Star Trek: Generations" years before the events of "All Good Things..."'s alternate future take place.) Moreover, the Federation was not bound to develop or implement cloaking technology under the Treaty of Algeron, the terms of which span three of the five TV series. Associating the cloaking device primarily with the Enterprise is misleading and a disservice to both the continuity of the Star Trek universe and the United Federation of Planets.

Currently playing in my head:
I don't really even know the song title or artist, I just know it goes:
When the house is a-rockin'
Don't bother knockin'
I say the house is a-rockin'
Don't bother knockin'
If the house is a-rockin'
Don't bother
Come on in.

McKeever's wordballoon podcast is rockin' so far, if only because it gives us some insight into how Marvel and DC differ in the way their offices are run. Not a lot of news about the upcoming books he's writing unfortunately, but a pretty cool story about what could have been with Gravity.

I'll see if the place where I work is hiring.
What do you do? It's not porn, is it?
I don't do nudity.
(Unless it's tasteful or integral to the plot.)

I'm psyched to hear it. I really have to catch up on my WB podcasts...haven't listened to one in a while.

Yep. It's totally the way to go.
I still haven't made my first order yet.
Mostly because transitioning in means I have to essentially pay for two months worth of comics in one month (because I'm gonna have to keep getting my books at my LCS this month and next month while still paying DCBS for the comics I want in two months).

Yeah, but you'll save enough your first month 100% with DCBS that you'll be glad you did it.

I'm the manager of an international logistics company, but right now I'm working in-house at our biggest client doing logistics on a refinery project being built in Saudi Arabia.

It definitely is scary. This month, I'm paying for next month's comics and the remainder of this month's. Plus, my bill for September is gonna be huge (stupid omnibuses). But, at the end of the day, I will save more money and still get to buy more books. So it levels out.

Holy crap, I can only imagine the freight quotes you're getting there. I've been doing international and domestic logistics for 4 years.

Okay. I understood manager and Saudi Arabia. And now I'm scared. :scared:
I'm kidding, of course. ;)
