HERO CABBIE: I KICKED BURNING TERRORIST SO HARD IN BALLS THAT I TORE A TENDON

A HERO cabbie who took on the Glasgow Airport terror suspects told yesterday how he booted one of them in the privates.

Alex McIlveen, 45, kicked the man, whose body was in flames, so hard that he tore a tendon in his foot.

But he said last night: "He didn't even flinch. I couldn't believe he didn't go down.

"A doctor told me later I'd damaged a tendon in my foot."

The burned suspect was named last night as Khalid Ahmed, a Lebanese doctor.

He is critically ill with burns at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he is believed to have worked.

Police rake in leafy robbery suspect

By SCOTT BROOKS
New Hampshire Union Leader Staff

Manchester – The bandit who wore a leafy disguise while robbing a downtown bank Saturday has been caught, police said.

Jul9 Leaf robber 60px

Investigators say James Coldwell, 49, robbed the Citizens Bank at 1550 Elm St. while clad in clothing adorned with tree branches held on by duct tape.

Coldwell was charged with one count of robbery after answering questions at the police station, Capt. Dick Tracy said.

At a court hearing this morning, bail was set at $10,000 in cash or corporate surety. The defendant was ordered to have no contact with the teller, to stay away from the bank and to avoid alcohol. He refused to comment to a reporter.

Video surveillance of the Saturday morning robbery showed a thin white man leaving the bank in a shroud of tree branches, all duct-taped to his shirt and head. His short, dark hair and mustache were clearly visible between the leaves.

Tracy said police were tipped off by several anonymous callers after the footage appeared on a nightly news broadcasts.

"I think he was hoping the disguise would camouflage him enough that no one would recognize who he was," Tracy said.

Coldwell lives at 50 Lowell St., about three-quarters of a mile south of the bank. Residents at that address laughed about the incident, but refused to discuss it with a reporter yesterday.

Tracy said the robber made off with a bag containing less than $1,000. It appears investigators have since recovered most, if not all, of the money, he said.

No weapon was shown during the crime, police have said.

Fart into the phone when they call again. Or have your friend get a whistle and blow it into the phone as hard as she can. Something that may permanantly damage the hearing of the person on the other end.

Set up an answering machine.

State that all calls are being screened and in accordance with {whatever statue/law you can find about telemarketers} you'll be archiving said calls for future prosecution and legal remedies.

There's some law on the books (Sy?) that said something along those lines.. that you can tell them once to not call you and if they continue, you can get compensation or something.

Either way, getting it archived for later use can't hurt, especially if you're dragging cops into it. Might scare em if they're pranking.

If it's a telemarketer, then have your friend politely inform them that they have the wrong number and say this phrase: "Put my number on your don't-call list." There are FCC regulations that require telemarketers to comply with such a request, but it has to be clearly stated.

It sounds like it may be a seedy collection agency or creditor, given the "there will be consequences" line. They sound desperate to get this Clara Smith person on the phone, and that sounds fishy to me. If it is a creditor, then their actions are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Either way, the harassment is completely out of line.

If they are really persistent, a threat of legal action (even an empty threat) should cause them to back down.

I really don't think it matters, though I confess I'm not hugely well versed in this area of the law.

Barring that, your friend can have the number blocked by his phone carrier (if it's a landline). He or she can probably have it blocked by his cell phone carrier, too, so it's definitely something to look into.

I've found I can't whip out songs like I used to cause I've been away from it for so long. but currently I started getting kernals of ideas. It just takes a while to get back in the groove but you have to start. free writing helps me even if I only get a sentence or maybe nothing but it gets your brain thinking in that direction. I've found out the hard way that the stupid old saying "you don't use it you loose it" is correct. poor poor plook stick.

Indeed.

By the way, I miss Chubbo. :(

(And we haven't seen Flonk's Fone lately, either.)

TIP THREAD CONFESSION!

I waited on icky plook. for some reason that band deserves the tuesday release for me. though I did sneak a peak at the third track cause the guitar world jack white interview talked it up ALOT. CONQUEST!!!

Dude, I've ragged on that song in person at work soooo much that all I have to do is sing "Caaaaah-aaah-an...." and the room cracks up and they hoist me in the air and I am their hero.

THOUGHTS AFTER READING BENDIS BOARD THREAD TITLES.

if I had alot of money I would buy alot of spam and stick it in peoples mail boxes.

If I had a lot of money I'd build a time machine and make Ignore List 2.0 real by preventing some existences.

I need a new MySpace photo. I hate my MySpace photo.

Plus, I have a goatee now, which makes my head look less rotund and makes me look like the Mirror Universe version of myself.

I need to upload a new photo. Maybe this weekend I'll have some action shots to upload.

It sounds like "The Hardest Button To Button" with a ridiculous chant of "Caaaah-ah-ahhhn-QUEST!" in the middle. A lot of the album seems re-hashy to me, actually.

(Still worth what I paid for it, though)

I just sent you an invite to your yahoo address, but I'm not sure if that's for a free month or just to invite you to my Blockbuster friends list. I don't think I'd really get any benefits anyways, since I'm already a VIP member. It does both. Friends list and a free month.

But I just realized that Blockbuster has the Blu-Ray exclusivity:sad:

I guess that makes the choice easy. Netflix.

anyways I just came on to tell you guys that music man is fantastic. every song is too inches away from some of the weirder captain beefheart stuff. why? cause I have no idea what any of the slang means in the movie and they use it all the time. FANTASTIC! anyways the jack white song is in the the first 5 mintues of the movie. I'll have to listen to it agian but it looks like he takes bits and pieces and one large section of that song to do his version.

This was available for a time as a free dl on the TMBG site, in perfect quality. I didn't grab it when I had the chance. I'm working on getting a bunch of Daily Show/Colbert classic MP3's, but until then, here's a video rip - Daily Show theme (http://www.badongo.com/file/1853938)
