While I was at work this afternoon (and very bored) I started wondering about something. How well do you know your parents? I mean, really know them as people. Do you know them very well or are they just these individuals who have just always been there?
I know it's a hard thing to nail down, but I am curious.

I know them pretty well. My dad and I are real tight and are like a couple of "the guys". I know my mom well enough to not say a lot because she likes to argue and shit.

I thought I did before I found out when my dad was a kid he knocked a guy's eye out with a rock.

My mom I've gotten to know better as I got older. My dad, no. To be honest, not sure I want to.

I know them both pretty well. As a kid and teenager I would say they were more just my parents and not so much normal folks to me. But since I have grown up, gotten married, and had a kid of my own I think I know both my parents very well as people.

I know them both very well, like friends really, but I didn't know them that well when I was younger.

I'm going to steal Ben's thunder.
My mom is dead.
I didn't grow up with a dad; only met him once when I was 16 -- don't know a thing about him aside from a few facts and don't care to know.
My mother, on the other hand, is really honest and open, so she's told me so many things about herself. TMI stuff, too. I feel like I really know her, moreso than anyone else ('cept my brother).
