I reviewed Scar Tissue for my column and it just went up. I started a specific thread for this one since there are several bendis board folk involved.
I recomend the book quite a lot, so give it a look if you get a chance to see it at a con starting at SDCC this year.

Read it and enjoyed the review.. actually makes me want to pick up the trade, which is better than when I heard the originial premise.
My only question, so was the graphic novel all self contained? or was it putting together the first five or six issues of a series?
Was just curious to see, cause I couldn't tell if they planned on having more volumes come out or not.

It is all self contained, but I believe there are plans for more. The ending was done up like a good movie where it wrapped up, but left some things open for a sequel.

The trade collects the first five issues of the series, which is a complete story arc.
We may continue the series if we get picked up by a publisher, or if we decide to keep going indy.

I really hope you guys find the book a home somewhere. From what I've already read of it, it's a great story, and one of those ideas (speaking as a former heart patient) that I wish I'd thought of first. I'll be grabbing the trade in San Diego.
Even if you don't get it picked up by a publisher, (Which I don't think you'd have a problem doing) have you considered showing the finished product off to Diamond?

One of the things I also enjoyed but forgot to mention was the coloring. I really liked how the memory/past scenes were colored. That was a good indicator to me that it was not in the current. That really jumped out to me and I liked it as a reader. Sometimes, it is hard for me to follow comics when there is a lot of jumping around because I don't know what the hell is going on. Movies are esp hard for me to follow when the characters are all new and there is so much scene jumping. Good job mr/ms color person.
Hollingsworth would be so proud of me. :)

When you go shopping around, be sure to show off the page I bragged about! Freaking awesome page if I ever saw one!

Any given page I've seen by Dave has been pretty amazing. I really think almost any publisher would jump on this hard.
My first suggestion might be trying with Markosia or Image/Shadowline.

I wonder if that page is for sale? hmm...

Yeah, just from the one page, the art and coloring look pretty stellar. And I'm sure it's consitent throughout.

Was is just me, or did the oldest brother look a lot like a fat Ben Afleck, circa mall rats?

HA HA HA! The oldest brother actually looks like Dave. Except Dave is skinnier.
The funny thing about the publishers is that we've already submitted to just about everyone I can think of, but that was based on the first issue alone. The art has progressed by leaps and bounds up to the last issue. I'd like to think that some of the publishers would be willing to take another look now.
We could send it to Diamond, but I'm not sure I could afford it. Diamond takes what, 60% of cover? 70%? Which means I'd have to print about 3000-5000 copies in order to get a print run with a cover price that can swing such a margin, and since it's self-published I'd maybe sell 300-400 copies? Not a great idea financially.

Damn, really?
Weak.
But seriously. Show it off. I have a couple people I know in certain companies I could put in a good word through.
I still say the place where I think it might fit best would be Shadowline or Markosia.

Hey, if you've got contacts I'd love to put the book in their hands. I plan on giving out as many copies as I can to publishers next month at SDCC. Thanks much.

Just wanted to say that I got the first 2 issues of Scar Tissue and had enjoyed it. Not sure what happened after that, possibly the delay in between issues? I'm not sure, but I will have to hunt down the trade and pick it up!

Really looking forward to picking this up at Wizard World Chicago - I've heard nothing but great things about it.
