I was barely younger than Julie when I started reading Power Pack but now I'm twice her age, so it's confusing to think of her as a "hottie with a toe-ring" however Jack is a rabid ratbastich SOB just the tiniest nudge away from being consumed by the Darkside and taking over the earth systematically destroying all opposition... Or did Puberty mellow the lad a little?

I haven't read issue 3 yet, but I medically need to see some of Julie's family coping in the era of registration, since I did see a panel with a TV news presenter in one issue of something or another, stating that Power Pack was fighting on Captain America's side of the Civil War and then no further information. :(

Though I am sure you have your own timetable for these things.

Hi, C.B.,

I posted this on your blog before I realized that you had a forum. Here's the post:

I understand that you may be planning a Power Pack reunion, and I have a request to make of you. Jack Power was my number one favorite character in the Marvel Universe. I am not altogether happy with what Mark Sumerak has done with him. When Louise was writing Power Pack, Jack could be grumpy and cocky, but he just was not as big a jerk as Mark makes him out to be. I would really appreciate it if you could find something more original to do with Jack than turn him into the bad apple of the bunch. Just because the kid is cranky does not mean that he is going to become Dark Phoenix. Stereotypes might be okay for a book aimed at young readers, but a mainstream book deserves to be more complex.

I would also really love it if you could give Jack a real super-power! Turning into a cloud is okay for a little kid, but a young adult needs something with a little more muscle. Jack was a little kid when he got his powers. It stands to reason that his abilites would develop and grow as he matured. And I would also like to point out that Jack was usually the fastest thinker under pressure. (Remember how he K.O.ed Arclight in the Mutant Massacre?)

I also think it important to recognize that not all of the Pack would see (as Julie does) their powers as something that was done to them. Some of them might even see it as the best thing that ever happened to them.

One last thing. There was a Power Pack mini a few years ago in which Katie was suddenly a genius. I always thought that was dumb. Would you consider ignoring this?

I have enjoyed your portrayal of Julie in Loners so far. Take care.

Hmm?

I liked that Katie was a genius. The rest of that mini stunk. Katie would have to have a lot going on upstairs considering in a hopefully alternate future visited by some of Xavier's students during the late 40's of the first volume of the New Mutants, a grandmotherly looking Katie was the lone surviving nonmutant superhuman protecting the huddling sniveling beyondthunderdomelike humanity from their mutant overlord's strict domination... While exhibiting all four of the power pack's original super powers because the other three were very very dead. Grim much?

Marc Sumerak's stuff is obviously "Marvel Adventures" in all but name... And inside those constraints I find it quite enjoyable in a non-complex way. :)

Julie extended on the cloud powers that she could become 12 feet tall when she needed to be, a mid point between the cloud and Jacks 6 inch tall super dense definition of himself... Julie also shot "bubbles" that had a sort of concussive effect when she was in cloud form.

I mean it didn't do Antman much good this week, but couldn't Jack the cloud go inside people and then either become a superdense midget or start firing off those concussive bubbles?

Besides who is to say that Jack, Alex and katie even have their classic powers just because Julie does? (C.B. I guess?) O, I simply loved Jack ever so briefly as the Destroyer. :)

Actually, what I had in mind was something like this:

high density = super-strength + invulnerability

low density = phasing

So basically the Vision?

Jack wishes he could marry as well with some one that hot and crazy.
