Great issue--I am really enjoying this series a lot.

The bad guy, was that...Lotus Newmark, the L.A. crimelord who used to be an enemy of Wonder Man and Hawkeye? I'm assuming it is--female Japanese mastermind operating out of L.A. who doesn't let morality interfere with business? Sure sounds like Lotus to me. I'm thrilled to see someone bring her back, and I'm really looking forward to finding out what deal Mickey made with her to stop the fight.

I loved Mickey's little speech, telling off the others. She certainly seems a lot more commanding and sure of herself than she did back in her Warriors days, and it is nice to see. Turbo was easily my favourite member of this group, so I am looking forward to her spotlight issue...and to seeing more of her budding relationship with Chris. That one took me by surprise--after the first issue, I thought something was gonna develop between Chris and Mattie.

I really liked the last page, with the single panel clips of each member, as the narration boxes discussed their various feelings. It kind of reminded me of the closing scenes of Desperate Housewives episodes, where the narration does the same thing, cutting from character to character.

Two issues in a row now with Richocet having scenes topless and/or in his underwear. Who would ever have expected that Ricochet would become a sex symbol character. ;)

I'm really looking forward to next issue! Keep up the good work! :)

Another really solid issue. I like the last page in particular. It really shows you a lot of the character of these characters. Lets you in their heads a bit. From a readers standpoint you like to see that from a writer (and an artist to an extent).

Well, I think you should pitch a new Darkhawk ongoing. Darkhawk is the main reason that I'm buying Loners, the other reason being that it's a great mini so far. My only complaint is that the cover artist quite simply refuses to draw Darkhawk's costume even close to what it actually looks like, which is a real shame due to the fact that he's got one of the coolest looking costumes ever.

And, of course, you keep knocking em outta the park; Loners #3 is an excellent issue and I'm looking forward to the remainder of the mini.

When I write, the complaint I hear most often is that there's too much talking and not enough action. Too much relationship-building-dating-whatever stuff and not enough blowing stuff up, lol. And I have to admit, when I read Loners #3, I couldn't help but think this myself. I've read some other comic book forums and heard other people's similiar complaints, but you know what?

I've thought about it and, as when Mickey's rant brought us all back to reality, it really does make sense. These people are trying to stay out of the fight, or at least they're supposed to be trying to *cough, Mattie, cough*.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the issue, like all the issues, and I'll be continuing with The Loners for the foreseeable future. My biggest complaint, really, is that it felt too short. Sure, you made some big reveals with the Hollow character that will tide me over for some time, but I STILL can't wait till next month. Which is a good sign as far as your writing and everyone else's job on the comic goes.

So, about Hollow's powers, or more accurately, her abilities...

Is the fact that her skin isn't razor sharp to the touch and that she can speak a result of her having greater control over her powers now? That's the most logical explanation I can think of for Phil not getting cut or at least flinching when she kissed him. Additionally, it's always seemed to me that she physically can't speak... The other explanation I have is that this is not Penance at all. I noticed the other bodies in the tubes had Penance-like claws and feet.

Now that Hollow is with the group, and if there's an ongoing, what're the chances of Jubilee showing up? Being a former mutant, she'd fit into the group of people trying to put their costumed pasts behind them. And she's already in L.A., for goodness sake! :) She can call Hollow simply "Penny" to avoid confusion with the new Penance. ;) Plus, it'd give you a chance to write her work in the halfway house for depowered mutants, if you want.

Hmm, you make a good point about Jubilee being the sort to find a way to get her powers back rather than sitting in therapy, though. Drat. ;) Maybe one of her halfway house depowered mutants wants to check out the group and Jubilee tags along for moral support, even though it's the LAST place she'd like to be.

Just a suggestion. P.S. looking forward to finding out what Julie's secret is. ;)

I was thinking that, maybe, in the next issue you're going to add some dialogue to that Julie-Hollow meeting in the lab. You know, as a flashback. Well, I guess I'll see.

Wait a minute, Generation X Penance is now called Hollow because of Thunderbolts Penance even though she had the name first?

Yeah, pretty dumb, huh?? :blah:

Couldn't they have named him Penitent? It sounds cool enough and it certainly doesn't make him sound like a little girl mutie. ;)

So who was the pink monster girl? Someone from Gen X?

I liked the issue pretty good. I wished he got in the suit, but I was happy to see him as it was. I wonder if they are going to take on the drug lady during this series.

I look forward to seeing where this all leads.

Yup, Penance a.k.a. the mutant girl now called Hollow (http://www.comicvine.com/hollow/10573/).

Hollow was a "prison" for some of the Saint'Croix girls constructed by their brother Emplate. They switched out for a while, and then all escaped, afterward the "prison" seemed to be able to exist independently of having someone trapped inside...

Apparently according to New Joe Friday's there is some one inside... but who?
