Huzzah!

This has REALLY made my day! Marvel Digital Comics (over at Marvel.Com) has put
ALL of AMAZING FANTASY Vol.2 #15 up online for

FREE!

This's a LOT of FUN STUFF, people!

Sure, sure, sure, you get the first ever tale of the now legendary MASTERMIND EXCELLO (by WORLD WAR HULK and PHEONIX: ENDSONG scribe, Greg Pak!)...

...and yeah, yeah, yeah you get to read the debut tale of MONSTRO (by INVINCIBLE and WALKING DEAD guru, Robert Kirkman!)...

...and OF COURSE there's also cool short stories by MK4 and SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa!, WOLVERINE: ORIGINS and GHOST RIDER's Daniel Way!, and SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE and GRAVITY's Sean McKeever!...

...but, c'mon...

BlackJack!!!

All right, that probably means squadoosh to you. But I had SO MUCH FUN working with Pete Woods on this! (BTW, have you seen Pete's stuff on DC's big mega-event AMAZONS ATTACK?! Cool, right?!)

Anyhoo...

Please check 'em out. 4 done-in-one stories! Each only 2 pages long! How'd we cram so much crunchy, gooey, action-packed funnitude into such a small space I'll never know. Probably has somethin' to do with wormholes in the space/time continuum...

...well? What're you still standing around here for? You could've READ IT already. Sheesh!

(Oh, and there's also a zippy, little bit of Spidery goodness at the very end by me and MARVEL ADVENTURES: SPIDER-MAN's Patrick Sherberger! Much fun!)

And just to whet your appetite, here are some of Pete's character designs for BlackJack's leads, Ace & One-Eyed Jacquie...

I loved BlackJack when it first came out - it's too bad the other stories seem to be "pilots" for future strips rather than telling a complete story on their own (although I would have liked to see the comic continue as an anthology, because some of them were pretty good!).

I love it! It's like Bond meets Aeon Flux by way of The X Files, and... that just made my day (even if I did have to wrestle with the mighty Marvel Digital Comic Reader beast to see it all - that don't like my poor little Win98 PC). And Terminus! I have an irrational love of Terminus (no, not that kind of love) ever since I read Fantastic Four Visionaries Byrne #5 - I know he's basically just a Galactus knock-off, but... using a giant space laser to carve 'I claim this world. -Terminus' across the continental United States before he arrives, that was really cool. Goofy, but cool.

You know, if there were to be more Blackjack two-pagers, say in the back of other books the way you sometimes see Franklin Richards or Mini Marvels or what have you, I'd buy every damn one. In fact, anything I'd be buying anyway, I'd buy two of, so I could have a little Blackjack shelf all its own.

(Of course it's tempting to say 'full size issues', but y'know, I think maybe the magic is that they're done in two pages. Of course, if there were to be full size issues containing 11 two-page stories each, that'd work too...)

I remember voting for Blackjack way back when Marvel.com had the poll about which short story should get its own mini series. I really hope we see the duo again somewhere down the line in their own series or just popping in to say hello in another series.
