hmmm... I dunno, Sinatra was old school... King Kirby kind of old school. Bendis is more like the Justin Timberlake of Comics :D

He's the motherfucking Sid Vicious of comics is what he is!

Pissed everyone the fuck off when he started in Marvel, and I was LOVING IT!

Naw, he's more the Elton John, or Phil Collins, or no, maybe the James Taylor, or perhaps the Paul Shaffer of comics.

Bendis lacks the mob ties to truly be Sinatra.

But Bendis can actually write... Sid couldn't even play his instrument... :D

I think Bendis is either the mid-to-late 80s Prince or the Mike Patton of comics, because he can put out a zillion things at once and they don't suck.

I like to think of him as the Big Pun of comics...

No. Will Eisner would be Sinatra. His work's spanned several publishers and multiple reprints. People aspire to be Eisner but cannot even get close. I'd say only that Eisner's an even greater man for working on graphic novels until the day he past (Sinatra still toured late in his life even though he began to forget lyrics), he served his country, and was one of the most beloved artists of our day.

To be considered the "Sinatra of comics" Brian's work's gotta stand the test of time for at least 40 years, rumored to have slept with Gail Simone (Comics' Marilyn), and his daughter will be maintaining the Jinxworld website selling his comics via the web while writing comics of her own. Bruabker has more mob ties, and he has to appear in a movie that's equivalent to the original Manchurian Canidate.

He does have a nickname (Baldy) like Blue Eyes and is part of the Portland brat with Brubaker, and Rucka and others. Or the Mavel bratpack, but he's got a long way before such superlatives.

If we're going to make music parallels, I'd say how music was changed by Nirvana, I'd compare Frank Miller with them (even though Madonna might be a better Frank Miller comparison given time reference and the constant reinvention), so that would put Bendis at a.... Radiohead, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers or Bjork.
