View Full Version : Name of a NYC steakhouse?

Okay, I know this isn't really what this board is about, but food is a valid topic and C. B. lives in NYC, I thought I'd throw this question out here.

Does anyone know the name of the steak joint with the cartoons drawn on the walls? It is just north of the theatre district. One of the drawings was a Siegal/Schuster era Superman. There is a drugstore on the corner and across the street and IIRC a subway entrance across the street.

Also, there is an Italian place across the street, anyone know the name of it?

This is all by memory from my first visit to NYC so it may be incorrect!

(Sorry if the noncomic stuff offends anyone. Feel free to delete it if needed)

Thanks,
Scott

The Palm...there are about 4 of them in Manhattan right now...the one north of the theatre district is Palm West Side on West 50th Street

My favorite is the Palm Too on the East Side across the street from the original Palm on Second Avenue around 47th Street (Palm Too is more like a pub)...original Palm has a Joe Quesada wall painting of several Marvel characters in the stairwell as you go upstairs

Thanks Rick! I didn't know there was one in Dallas. Won't be the same, but I'm in Dallas much more then NYC!

I agree with Rick here, the original Palm and Palm Too are far superior to their newer cousin on 50th!

Get there early and get the prime rib!! And don't skip the clams!!

Interesting. So is this one of those pricey places? :) I didn't see any prices on the website...

I think it's fairly pricey!

When I went, my wife (she's an engineer) and I were sent to NYC by a lighting company. These trips tend to be all-expense paid attempts to get my wife to spec their lights.

Needless to say, they spare no expense!

Also needless to say these can be FUN!

(BTW, I love Prime Rib!)

Nothing wrong with Steak & Ale!
But I do know a guy who knocked out the sign of one while shooting water ballons of his apt balcony!

It is almost worth a trip to Sao Paulo alone to eat at the real Fogo de Chao there...the US "chains" cannot compare...this type of restaurant is fairly routine in Brazil...funny thing is (IMHO) Fogo de Chao is not even close to the best there...but I have never seen one outside of Brazil come close to th ereal thing!!!

There used to be a churrasco steakhouse here in Oklahoma City. They would bring around spits of meat and cut off whatever you wanted. They served 14 types of meat!

Man, that place was good, but I'd have a 'meat-hangover' for days afterward!

I miss that place!
