I knew I needed to get a new tire soon, but good lord, they just shredded of that bastard.

I was stuck on the side of the freeway, under a bridge, for about 40 min while I changed the tire. Fortunately, the spare is a full sized spare, so I'm good for a bit.

I'm just glad it happend on Tuesday, not Thursday - Sunday, when I was driving people around for CAPE all day.

This is what I was left with...

Dude, that tire is bald. If your other tires look like that, you need to change them NOW

Holy crap. That was in some bad shape. Sorry to hear about the blowout though, that does suck.

It's bald because the treads are gone. Pre blowout, it had treads on it... they literally shredded off the tire. The others are completely fine as far as I know, but when I get my new tire, I'm having them double checked.

And after getting filthy and sweaty and tired... I get home, and my two wonderful dogs, what have they left for me?

Was that a re-tred tire?

No, either a tire that came with the car, or a new tire after one went flat, can't remember, they've been rotated.

Similiar thing happened to me a few years back, only the tread came up in one piece that didn't quite come off the tire. Therefore, doing 80 on the interestate, I suddenly had a giant rubber whip beating my wheelwell out of shape for a few seconds until I could pull off the road...

That was about the most frightening thing I've ever had happen to me while driving. Even more so than taking my pop's '66 VW bug for a 540 on a windy mountain road...

And I was still fairly new at driving so I didn't know what the hell to do.
