for me,
a bad one just has a halfway clever title and maybe a decent joke.
a good one has a clever title, maybe a joke and a real question, thought or concern to be discussed. it doesn't have to be serious, but it has to real. has to contribute.
what are you're thoughts?

The best parody thread of all time was "Do fat people deserve heart attacks?". A great take-off on "Do smokers deserve cancer?".

If it fools people who then smack their head when they realize what it really is.

That wouldn't be a parody thread, then. If it contributes something, it's allowed.

ding! we have a winner. in the history of the board there's been maybe 2 sorta funny ones. the rest of them are all just "I know, I'll change THIS word and it will be funny!" but it never is. just lame.

I still mourn the fact that I never thought to follow up the "I don't believe in Cod" thread with "I don't believe in Scrod". :(

The comedic ability of the person posting.
There is no "good parody thread".
What about Pat Loika's I found a hundred dollar bill Parody thread, that was comedic gold.
Parody threads can be good when they are more then just a clever name change. Whether it's just plain funny, satire, social commentary, an opposing view to those expressed in the origianl thread.

I wouldn't say that's a parody so much as a sarcastic "call-out" thread.

Whatever it was, it was awesome on a stick. To me, that is.
