A badly written film is making loads more money than two intelligently written ones? How terribly surprising...

Why should this beat Batman Begins? What is wrong with this world?:?

The last hour of Batman Begins was just as stupid as this movie, only less fun.

That's a lot of money. I'm glad. Hope it has some legs.

Me too (just because I want a fourth one).

We'll see how it stacks up to the other two threequels (Shrek 3 and Pirates 3). And Harry Potter.

I always figured I was the only one who thought the latter portion of that movie was crappy... Cheers!

Yeah, same here. I wasn't crazy about this one, but I think they were heading in the right direction and just screwed along the way.

Not terribly surprising - as ever, the opening weekend for a sequel mostly reflects how much people enjoyed the previous installment, not necessarily the quality of the current one. I could see this going either way as far as it having legs at the box office, though.
I was actually more surprised to see that Superman Returns had a higher worldwide box office take than Batman Begins. I did not know that.

Don't forget The Bourne Supremacy and Ocean's 13!

One thing that should be considered is the price of movie tickets. In Japan, where Spidey premiered, a ticket costs $18.

I am sure that that figure is taken into account for any film's foreign box office numbers, not just this one. :grope:

Superstalker Returns? No surprise there either.

I stand by now that Goyer is out of the franchise we are going to see a gigantic leap in quality. If Jonathon Nolan brings the same mindfuck intensity to Joker and Batman as he had in the Prestige we are in for a great time!

Well, it's good to see that people understand that money has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with quality, and aren't turning this thread into versus bullshit and predictions of doom! .....Oh, wait!
