They may be repeating it this summer on CBS. If not, the DVD comes out in September. The second best new show of the year, just behind FNL.

I say seal the deal before she goes out of town. Seriously.

But...The Justice Society Of America were total pussies in World War II :?

Now these bad mofos...That's a different story.

It's very different, but a lot of fun nonetheless. There's a lighter tone, but seriously, some of the best episodes came out of that era. And yes, I believe it is Dini/Timm all the way.

BTW, anyone here watch The Wire? I found it REALLY cheap on Amazon a little while ago and decided to buy it. $25, $60 retail:boogie:

Anyone want to post their pull lists? Here's my DCBS order for August:

ALL NEW BOOSTER GOLD #1
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #12
JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #8
TEEN TITANS #50
EX MACHINA MASQUERADE SPECIAL
FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #23
SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #40
CAPTAIN AMERICA #29
DAREDEVIL WRAPAROUND #100
LAST FANTASTIC FOUR STORY
IMMORTAL IRON FIST #9
WORLD WAR HULK #3
INCREDIBLE HULK #109
WORLD WAR HULK FRONTLINE #3
NEW AVENGERS #33
THOR #2
X-FACTOR #22
ASTONISHING X-MEN #23
CRIMINAL #9

Booster Gold is just a try-out, since it only cost me $.75. If I like it I'll buy the eventual trade.

JLA, Sensational Spider-Man, & Astonishing X-Men are all ending their runs pretty soon. I also added Friendly for one issue just because they're finally doing the Peter/Jonah confrontation. I'll buy One More Day, just because after his run with JRJR I can't imagine not seeing JMS finish his run.

Books I'm thinking about dropping and buying only in trade: Iron Fist, all Avengers books

I'm starting to regret not waiting for trade with World War Hulk, my wallet's getting way too light

Mostly why anyone would think it's a good idea to feature the LOSH from 2 continuitys ago in such an already busy premise so early into the runs of your top 2 books effectively killing any story/narrative momentum.

Oh and the writers basically screaming at the top of their lungs that this new Legion Of Super-Heroes (You know gasp the one that's actually being published at the moment) doesn't really count cause they're not really the "Real True" Legion.

That's just scratching the surface though. I LOATHE the Lightning Saga in ways i can't properly describe.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree in principle with Vonn. Both books were, IMO, really firing on all cylinders (I konw a lot of people felt JLA was too slow, but I liked it), and this current storyarch has killed a lot of the momentum for me.

But I've never liked the Legion. I bet for a bunch of Legion fans it's a really cool story.

I undestand what you saying, but the Lightning Saga started in JSA issue one. The second we say the new Starman. I'm holding out hope this storyline helps define why Starman is in our time and why he is a whackjob.

I also dislike the whole Superman was once a legionnaire thing. But DC is bringing the Silver Age back and I've realized there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I just hope I get to read some sweet JLA stories. Meltzer ain't gonna be on JLA forever.

The silver age circle jerk going on in those books is a little much. And yeah, featuring the original Legion is probably a mistake. In my opinion Superman still should've travelled to the future and met with them and hung out with them, but after the first crisis that future should've been wiped out and all that should've remained was Supermans memories.

Countdown #46 $2.99 –Mary fights a monster made out of dead babies? Well that’s just creepy! And Sleez? Wasn’t ever expecting to see him again. I’m really enjoying the Jimmy stuff. It’s just got that classic “Superman’s Pal” feel to it. Not sure how I feel about these Monitor agent things yet.

Green Arrow Vol 3 #75 $3.50 – Kind of weird that they are making Deathstroke a big GA bad guy, when he really can’t beat him. This is a guy that he really can’t beat. It also just sort of ran out of steam at the end.

Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #13 $2.99 - Mogo sterilizes himself with an asteroid. Cool! I’ve really been enjoying the build-up to Sinestro Corps.

JLA Classified #39 $2.99 – This has been one of the better arcs in this book. It’s fun, and nice to see this team in action again.

Justice (DC) #12 Cover A Heroes $3.99 – I was a huge fan of this series and I’m gonna miss the heck out of it. It’s just classic stuff with beautiful art. (and Ch’p! Freakin Ch’p!) I hope the ending means that we’ll see a Legion series from this creative team.

Superman Batman #36 $2.99 – Not bad, maybe a little over complicated.

Trials Of SHAZAM #7 $2.99 – When will it end? When?

I respectfully disagree. Sometimes I wonder why we accept somethings which seem utterly ridiculous, but at others we reject them as nonsense. Going into the movie we know that it will be different than the comics so we should be more accepting. So he steals his surfboard- we have no problem accepting that he shoots electrical shit, Reed stretches, the Thing, and Johnny flames on, but we have a problem with that. I know it's not canon, but I think it worked ok for the movie.

I fell asleep during the first movie...it was THAT bad. This one, I would turn down seeing if someone offered to pay for my ticket and snacks. 90 minutes in a theatre on a nice day to see this movie seems like a HUGE waste of time!

Well that's because Jodi Picoult's run is anything But. Why you would hire a big name mainstream writer to essentially just do some basic Crossover tie-in fill-ins is a mystery i'll never understand.

And fuck the haters Allan Heinbergs & Terry Dodsons opening 4 issues were a BLAST to read.

Considering Wonder Woman and FUN usually go together like Peanut Butter and Horse Shit that's a pretty big accomplishment.

Gail Simone meanwhile has written one project i've enjoyed (Villains United) so i'm not exactly doing back-flips over her ascension. Then again after this dull Amazons Attack anything would be a relief.

Hey guys 2500 posts. (Well on this verison of the board):blah:

And with my 2500th post I get to talk about Grant Morrison. Thanks Hock.

There is no fucking way the DC One Million heroes got wiped out in the Crisis. Grant Morrison created them and last I check he was one of the big wig architects at DC currently.

Not to mention John Fox was created my a certain Mark Waid who is (from what I hear) writing Flash again.

John Fox wasn't wiped out by Crisis that's all I'm saying.

Yes, but I still don't think he'll be coming back. I think Waid and Morrison are keeping their pet future characters on the down-low, because if Didio sees them, he sees redundancy and death.

2 In The Top 10
9 In The Top 25
19 In The Top 50
34 In The Top 100

The Good - Justice League Of America is a smash commercial hit. Whatever you think about it, it should be DC's number one book and it certainly is. All-Star Batman And Robin despite it's haw schedule and critical bashing is still a Top 10 book. Then again it is Jim Lee and Frank Miller on Batman! Blank pages that they spit on would still move 50K. 52 wraps up solidly but to no one's surprise sales didn't really improve. But again it's the 52nd issue you're not going to have many impulse buys there. Justice Society Of America is WAY up on it's JSA numbers and looks to stay there for a long time to come.

The Meh - Countdown despite being fully returnable debuts to mediocre numbers all told. We'll see what it does next month, if it falls out of the Top 25 like issue # 48 indicates then it's disappointing if it recovers then no problems. Either way not bad but not great either hence well Meh! Batman by Morrison/Kubert does another solid number. Superman/Batman is STILL a Top 10 book from DC (uh Top 10 FOR them) which is astounding. Teen Titans and Green Lantern both ship 2 issue's each this month and it's business as usual. With the upcoming creative team changes on TT and the Sinesto Corps storyline it'll be interesting to see how these books fare. ( My guess one goes up, one goes down at least a lil) Wonder Woman does fine all considering. Action Comics and Superman meanwhile have lost all momentum and the sales show it. These are just 2 more books on the shelve at the moment and that's a shame. Detective Comics looks like it'll fall out of the Top 50! and Jesus wept. Seriously i don't understand this one at all :? Maybe people feel single issue storylines = inconsequential stories??? They're wrong of course but what else could be going on?

The Bottom 50

Supergirl falls out of the Top 50 and Jesus Clapped. Flash is a dead book walking and sales show it. Amazon's Attack meanwhile is a real disaster. Horrible numbers for this sort of thing and it's tie in book in Wonder Woman is out-selling it handily. Exhibit A of an event that people don't seem to care about. It's selling Silent War numbers except Silent War got lost in the shuffle at Marvel while Amazon's Attack is DC's big party for WW.

Whoa what the hell happened here? # 56 all the way to #71??? with no DC books That's not good  These bread and butter books all seem to have slipped 10 spots over the last few months out of the blue. Still all told most of these books are fine but Robin and Birds Of Prey have really fallen down the charts recently. Fables and Y:The Last Man continue to support their poor Vertigo brothers. And lastly Checkmate (It's crossover with Outsiders?) boosts it into the Top 100 for the first time in a long while.

Oh and not a single Wildstorm book to be found. Jim Lee must have pictures of Paul Levitz and farm Animals to keep that imprint kicking.

Finished Crisis on Infinite Earths today. Good read- very dense. This would have made a great 52. Spread out, explained, more exposition on the characters and locations.

Also, read Inhumans #1 from Mckeever today. Great book. He is indeed a talented writer. Look forward to TT and more Countdown.

Torres on Wonder Girl and McDuffie on JLA, eh?

Well, DC's not very worried about closing that market share gap, are they? On the other hand, it made it sound like McDuffie was going to be on the book for an extended run, which is what I hoped for.

You know what I didn't like? In the article on the WG mini, there was not one mention of Helena Sandsmark, the Elias school, or Cissie King-Jones and Greta Hayes. Way to miss the boat again, DC.

What u mean man?

Mcduffie is a dependable low-key writer. JLA will take a huge tumble in sales when he comes on, even if it goes up in quality. I expected a bigger name to follow Meltzer.

A Torres-penned WG mini will be lucky to crack the top 100.

As long as Dini stays on Detective I'm a happy Doctor.

Hell yes. Best DCU book coming out.

Mcduffie's on the JLA!

I'm more excited about a Torres Wonder Girl, I'll pick that up.
:D

I was going to drop JLA regardless, but this means I'll probably pick up the trade. Good that Benes stays on art duties.

But.......

I think he means that while talented Dwayne McDuffie isn't a sales draw on his own. At least not yet.

JLA is by far DC's number 1 book, can McDuffie keep moving 100k issues a month especially now that the big relaunch enters year 2?

It shall be interesting to watch.

Ah well I think its better to have someone on that can write a good story rather than boost sales.

I might pick this up in trade if I hear good stuff.

What would you people say is a good book to jump onto in DC?

I figure I'm gonna get Wonder Girl (I like Torres), Blue Beetle and will the new Flash book be good?

I have to admit, I was hoping for a bigger writer on JLA to possibly pull me in, Mcduffie is good, but not as great as I imagined.

He wrote Sentinel! I only realised this the other day, so I might just check it out, unless it's the anniversary issue, when I'd rather just start with #51.

Y'know what, I think I might just start it then, it coincides with a new job I have which will give me extra money.

Thanks to both you and Rabbit for suggesting Detective Comics, but I have to admit, I tried it on OYL, and whilst it was good, I just didn't think it was good enough for my pull list, I dropped it when there was a fill-in I think.

JSA is an old group of heroes yes? I really know next to nothing about DC :(

I'd never read JSA before the new series, and I didn't find myself confused at all.

I tried Dini's run and just didn't find it that interesting.

I think the Riddler and The Penguin may have been in some issues.

I think I was the only person who didn't like the stories that much based on the reviews.

I am fairly new to DC- about 3 years now, but it hasn't really been that hard to pick up. When I get lost, I check out wikipedia or Wiki-Ray right here on the board. It has been fun learning the ins and outs. I really enjoy DC right now. I almost get as many DC as Marvel. I never thought that would happen.

So i'm checking out this Cliff Chiang guy (The one who's taking over GA/BC natch) and his stuff looks good but his resume looks a bit thin in terms of ongoings.

He did 10 issues of Detective Comics in a row though (Which is news to me :? )

He also did the recent Spectre mini-series. How did that book look?

When will we see more Manhunter? DiDio explained they are getting material stockpiled a little, and that writer/creator Marc Andreyko has a lot of non-comics project going on which is keeping him away from Manhunter for a little bit.

Hmmmm unless they have Kate join a team permanently say the Birds Of Prey or The Outsiders i'd say this "re-launch" is DOA.

You can't hold back long or you'll lose any momentum you had. Manhunter fans enjoy the last arc when it comes out because i honestly can't see it surviving.

If Photoshop has a "Glossy" Button i think Acuna runs his pages through that 3 or 4 times.

Totally over-powers the line-work.
