I've been wondering how he knew all that, too.

He's the Goddamn Jimmy Olsen.

It is very odd, because from knowing Red Hood is Jason Todd, and knowing Jason Todd was the former Robin, it's a two-minute Google-search to knowing that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Yeah. That's what I was thinking.

Is DC going to out Batman like Marvel did with Daredevil? Then you can have Zatanna mind-wipe the planet after it all plays out. "No more Batman."

In fact, why doesn't Superman take 10 minutes out of his life to round up every vigilante and throw them in jail? ;)

Just give All-Star Wonder Woman a few minutes. She'll have all their heads on pikes, and still have time to call a random man a Sperm Bank. :D

So Jason? Batman sent an email to everyone on his buddy list. He figured they should know. Jimmy found out because Clark has a big mouth.

Yeah, no clue what that is. I have a pretty good guess, though.

It's probably the Kara who was split off from this Kara and sent to the 30th Century. Neither one is the real Kara, and they'll be reunited soon.

I never thought of it that way. That's fucked up. Shit even in JLA 9 Red Arrow is giving tips to Power Girl about which Legion character to take out first, if it should come to fisticuffs.

You can't be everywhere! Lois is very clingy sometimes, Jimmy gets his head stuck in a fence, there is an entire zoo up at the fortress... He's busy! I'm sure there are other heroes that go over the line too.

He's superman. He should be able to sexually gratify Lois, keep Jimmy from doing stupid shit, and take care of the zoo, in only 20 minutes a day.

Which is why having a laboratory and zoo and museum in the Fortress is STUPID!! Thanks for proving why the Silver Age nonsense going on in Action comics is ridiculous!

Dude...from space he laser beamed a door lock for Jimmy. Obviously he was helping Jimmy by lookiing for this one particular guy, right? So he just finds Jason Todd and then looks away? Come on now...Dini obviously thinks Jason Todd is some kind of good guy now. He's changing the character to fit his story.

Jason Todd has been a sort of hero lately, hasn't he? Just one willing to kill to get the job done. Or happy to, as opposed to willing to maybe.

Prime is a hard villain, because he's so powerful and his first story was so memorable. He's a lot like Doomsday like that. Eventually they'll probably have him repent and redeem himself, dying in the process.

Ok, finished some new reviews

Countdown #50 by Palmiotti/Gray and Calafiore
Wow, so I know it's still early, but 2 issues in, this series has been a spectacular creative failure. I'm sure this will sell, quality and sales really dont hurt/help each other too often, and this series ties into the DCU so a lot of hardcore fans will buy this even if it is/was crap because it's "important". In any event, this series just isnt working on any level outside of the art so far. The Legion/JLA/JSA scene was worthless, and really felt like it was Dini/Marts saying "Hey, remember kids, we tie into the DCU!!" rather than being anything important. Other's have pointed out the problems with the Jimmy Olsen pages, overall this just isnt very good. I'm glad I havent placed my orders for DCBS for this month yet, because Countdown is being left off that list. I wanted to like this, but I just dont.

JLA #9-Ugh, if this wasnt tieing into JSA this book would have been dropped ages ago. Horrible pacing, and outside of the Speedy (Red Arrow sucks as a name) and Hawkgirl's scene, there wasnt one thing about this issue that I honestly liked.

Flash #12-Wow, the art on this book just went from being average to spectacular. Great art around a good story. This book has flaw's, no one can deny that, and I still worry if the rumors of a certain Flash coming back, so soon in Guggenheim's run may hurt it, but for right now, this book is an enjoyable read. This cant touch Johns' run, but then again very few creators could do that, solid and enjoyable.

Checkmate #14
Enjoyable, not great, not bad, just enjoyable. I really cant find any other words for this crossover, it isnt setting the world ablaze, but it's good. I will say, after this I hope the book stays away from crossovers, the issues prior to this were MUCH better.

Booster Gold is hard for me, I like the writer (Johns), but I really dont dig Jurgen's artwork.

I'm kinda with you there on Jurgens. His work has always been a bit stiff, but I really enjoyed it in the 90's and at least he got things like anatomy and perspective right. And he used to do a kickass Superman. Problem is, he hasn't done much to help with the stiffness of his characters in the last 15 years that I've seen his stuff.

I guess DC really is serious about getting back on schedule, 3 issues of Action Comics in August.

I was thinking, you know what a down side to Countdown tie-ing into the rest of the DCU is? If one of the monthly book's falls behind a week or two, Countdown is either screwed or they are gonna rush that monthly book out with rushed, probably shitty fill-in art.

I'll echo what you two said about Jurgens' art. Booster's one of my favorite characters, and Johns is one of my favorite writers, so that's enough for me. I'd love to see someone like Cully Hammer on the series at some point.

I still don't understand Countdown to Adventure. After a year of being stranded in space, and then almost dying multiple times, I wonder what could warrant all of them going back out there? Especially Buddy. You'd think he'd want to spend a little bit more time on Earth.

Lets see... the Demon HC books, Batman & the Outsiders, Adventures of the Outsiders, some Brave and the Bold, a little Detective and Batman, Outsiders... all in the eighties/early nineties. Yeah, crossoveers are pissing me off. I'm only going to be buying them if I am already buying both of the titles already, like JSA/JLA. Where I am buying only one, like the Checkmate/Outsiders crossover, I will buy none.

:thumb:

That's what I had issues with for Civil War. I'd rather they just had seperate mini-series, but that's not likely to happen.

Honestly, I'm just as interested in the Barr issue. But we all know that the mini is going to be meaningless in the long run. Those will be five forgettable issues. I guarantee it.

From what I remember of these events when they were very common in the late 90's, these issues are generally only loosely connected. They're all dealing with the same story, but different situations within it. If, say, you only wanted to pick up the Barr and Andreyko issues, you would probably understand them fine as long as you read Outsiders. If you don't, of course, then there's absolutely no reason for you to get involved in this event.

Oh, absolutely. I expect them to only be related and not so much interconnected. Trust me, I'm considering just picking up the Barr and Andreyko issues, if anything.

I love the concept of the Outsiders and some of their old stories/series. The current run has left me fairly underwhelmed. I think I've actually dropped the title two or three times, and I'm only back on for the Checkmate arc right now, but with this impending re-launch, I'll probably just ride it out.

I like Andreyko, but I dont like him enough to pay $3 for what is essentially a worthless story. Chances are it will have good dialogue and action, but he's basically, probably going to be on cruise control, just writing the story, avoiding fucking anything up for the new writer.

Yup. But it's still difficult. I wouldn't want to date someone who wouldn't be cool with my hobbies, but I feel like I should be very patient.

Honestly, I would be willing to date someone if they asked me to quit comics, if I knew the relationship was something "special". I enjoy reading comics, but in the end, they are pretty meaningless.

And before anyone asks, I would do the same if she didnt like me playing/paying for video games, etc.

Comics arent a part of who I am, they are a hobby I enjoy, but honestly I could drop all of them tommorow and it really wouldnt effect me. That would be an extreme case though, I would simply point out to her that I dont read cosmo, but I dont judge her based on that. I could see it being a problem if I spend more money on comics than her. As it stands, I spend under $50 a month on comics, so it's not that big of a deal. Besides, I'm just using as a hypothetical, if I met someone I matched up perfectly with, and I had to choose one, well I would choose her, like I said, reading the latest issue of Mighty Avengers isnt gonna do it for me when I'm 40 and alone in a house :)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #3 - my first comic ever
Batman #484 - first Batman comic
Spidey 2099 #1 - this is the book that really launched me into comic reading.
Justice League (the Giffen/Dematteis era) #4 - this is what introduced me to the wonderful world of the JLI. Featuring one awesome Booster cover.
Avengers (vol 1) #12

Quite A lot actually. I'm lucking in that I can read up to five things simultaneously without problem. I don't mean at the same time, but I can read five books and not be confused about what's going on, so I can read whatever I'm in the mood for reading.
