Maybe not everyone knows that in a former life David was a Detective for the NYPD POWERS Homicide division.

This is only a first draft - so don't come running after me with a red pen...

DETECTIVE MACK
REAL NAME: DAVID MACK
STATUS: LIVING
TITLE: DETECTIVE NYPD, POWERS HOMICIDE DIVISION
ALIASES: NONE
POWERS/ABILTIES: NONE/CIVILIAN
POWER LEVEL: NA
AFFILIATIONS: CHRISTAIN WALKER, DEENA PILGRIM, UNITY TEAM
Assigned to the Red Hawk homicide investigation, Detective Mack proves a quick witted counterpart to Walker and Pilgrim. His close ties and solid working relationship to team Unity allow for easy access to the Unity Hall where Ultra Bright (Diana Carver) provides the trio of detectives with their chief suspect, Red Hawk’s former sidekick The Wing.

Under questioning by Detective Mack, Wing reveals that due to Ultra Bright’s power of suggestion he has dressed in costume and appeared against his will thereby seemingly implicating himself in the murder of Red Hawk. Angered by Ultra Bright’s deceitful tactics, Mack leads the detectives back to Unity Hall. His threats against Ultra Bright of obstructing justice are short-lived as she engages her power and easily coerces both the enthralled Mack and Walker into agreeing that her motives are pure.

Frustrated, Mack next seeks out Dragonfist, the washed out, overweight, and thoroughly estranged member of team Unity who peddles his autograph and blatant disdain for his former Unity teammates at POWERS nostalgia conventions. With some cajoling Mack squeezes a lead out of Dragonfist; the location of Nucleus, the only Unity team member who might still possess some knowledge of Supershock’s whereabouts. Before the detectives can move forward with their investigation, a series of devastating attacks levels the state of Utah, claiming Nucleus’ life in the process. Subsequent attacks destroy the Vatican in Rome, and the Gaza strip in Israel. Pilgrim intuits that these powerful acts could only be committed by a power with the level 9 capabilities of Supershock, a viewpoint Detective Mack strongly questions.

Detective Mack does not remain involved long enough in the investigation to be proven wrong, as Pilgrim, sensing Ultra Bright’s ability to compromise both Mack’s and Walker’s judgment, hastily takes matters into her own hands and improvises her own solo investigation.

would I get more feedback if I asked for it?
or would I get a greater response if I included this fact about the Mack character -

Deena Pilgrim refers to him as 'Testicles'.

Looks good to me, Tim. I am actually loaning my Powers collection out right now (another new fan has joined the ranks.. ). When I get them back in a day or two, I will double check the Mack appearance to see if there is anything that needs to be updated..

Will there be an entry for Warren Ellis?

Will there be an entry for Warren Ellis?

Yep. I'm writing one, because - first he's Warren, and second he's featured prominently enough, though his role is not significant in terms of the overall POWERS mythology. Brian and Mike will make the final cut however. I'm writing as many prominent characters as I can, because I have some unique plans for the book. But remember, this book is going to be future dated - featuring characters not evening appearing yet! Talk about getting your bang for the buck!

WARREN ELLIS
REAL NAME: WARREN ELLIS
STATUS: LIVING/DEFORMED
TITLE: GRAPHIC NOVELIST/AUTHOR
ALIASES: NONE
POWERS/ABILTIES: NONE/CIVILIAN
POWER LEVEL: NA
AFFILIATIONS: CHRISTAIN WALKER, DEENA PILGRIM, CAPTAIN CROSS
As one of the preeminent graphic novelists of the modern storytelling age, Warren Ellis was an avid researcher with an unquenchable thirst for information and knowledge. Forcibly partnered with Walker, the writer accompanies the detective for a ride-along. Called to waterfront warehouse, Walker leaves Ellis with a firearm and sternly issued instructions to remain in the vehicle. He is told not fire the gun under any circumstance unless fired upon first. Should any shots come from within the warehouse, Walker advises, Ellis is to call in a “310” on the car radio, the standard code for an officer in distress, then exit the car and flee.

Once the scene is secured, Walker assures Ellis before departing, the writer will be signaled to come into the warehouse to take notes and make first hand observations.

Walker enters the darkened entrance, slipping from Ellis’ viewpoint. Long moments of silence pass, before a brilliant flash of light illuminates the night, followed by a loud crashing sound from within the building. Eyes wide with a growing fear, Ellis hastily reports the proceedings into the precinct. Back-up officers are quickly dispatched, but Ellis report is cut short when several shots echo from the warehouse. In direct contradiction to Walker’s orders, Ellis brandishes the gun and stalks silently into the building where he spies Walker being held captive by an unnamed powers criminal. Ellis inadvertently steps upon a piece of scrap metal littering the floor and the noise immediately draws the attention of the chair bound Walker and the assailant. With no motion, the power appears beside the shocked writer and raising his hand, emits a burst of white light. When the energy dims Ellis finds himself kneeling before Walker, the gun now pointed at his skull from behind. Two uniformed officers and a replica of Simons, one of Johnny Royale’s inner-circle members, lay dead on the floor surrounding him, each from gunshot wounds to the head.

In an attempt to save his life, Ellis admits that his is merely a writer, along for the experience. Upon learning this fact, the power tosses him a gun and orders Ellis to shoot Walker in the name of research. Naturally Ellis resists, but the threat of being melted alive causes the writer to raise the gun to Walker’s temple. Hesitating, Ellis receives a taste of the power, a rippling effect throughout his skull that causes his face to temporarily warp. As the gun barrel edges closer to Walker’s perspiring forehead a siren is heard approaching the warehouse. Surprised that Ellis has somehow managed to call for back up, the warehouse ignites in a flash of white hot power.

Though never seen in public again, Warren Ellis has enjoyed continued success as a writer, having garnered critical acclaim for his most graphic novel “POWERS”.
