That red square with what looks like Japanese writing in it, that's your signature, right?

What's the meaning behind it? Is it Japanese, Chinese, made up?

Is it a stamp, or do you write it each time?

hey Kimberly,

I'm not DM, but i believe the signature is a stamp (or a 'chop', similar to a stamp but made from stone/rock with the sig carved into it). As to the meaning, i think it's basically his name (i may well be wrong :))

And i'm guessing it's Japanese, though Thommy who also posts on these boards has one that his girlfirend brought back from China for him.

Hope this is even a little bit helpful to you, (and hope Mack can clarify it better for you :D)
Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Kimberly,
Welcome here and thanks for reading my books.
Yeah that is a stamp called a chop.

I had several of them made by hand when I was in China and Japan.
I have one that says Kabuki in the kanji characters, and I had a set made for my brother and I that is the kanji for big brother and little brother.
I've used the big brother symbol in some of my signatures.

That square one is a chap sent to me as a gift from Miss Fumiko of the First Zen Institute of America. Her grandfather Sokei-an founded the Zen Institute long ago, and she sent me a wonderful set of Zen chops some time ago.

I had incorporated it into my work like I have many of the materials that she has sent for the last decade.
