My vote goes to Rawley's in Fairfield, Connecticut. I've been eating there for 30 years and while some places have come close, Rawley's still makes the best chili cheese dogs I've ever had.

Funny fact: Even Martha Stewart eats here and agrees.

Dang, I can't think of any good hot dogs joints around here...

There's one here in Philly (actually right down the street from the famous Melrose Diner) called "Texas Weiners." The dogs are split and grilled. The buns are toasted. And they use some secret sauce on it with onions and all sorts of good stuff. They may not be the best ever, but they're certainly the best I've come across in the area.

That sounds damn delicious.

I actually really like the Chicago hot dogs that they sell at O'Hare. I actually look forward to extended layovers (and O'Hare has a lot of them).

And Pink's is REALLY overrated.

For Chicago, I would have to say that Portillo's is a safe bet for most meats and their hotdogs are top notch.

I've never seen a line short enough at Pink's where I think it could be worth it because everyone who has had it says it's over-rated. Still, I want to try it.

Exact same thing with me, Corey. I've never been. And with Carney's right down the road, why bother to wait, right?!

I NEVER make a trip to Chicago without stopping Portillo's!! It's always so hard to choose though. I'm a big chili cheese dog guy, but the Chicago-style Polish and the Italian beef and sausage at Portillo's are both great. Another chain, but one well worth the visit!!

The dogs you get at Wrigley Stadium are damn good as well!! Love the Chicago way of doing it with the pickle and spice!

If you can find out the name, Marc, let me know. I make a few food trips to Philly each year and would love to check it out.

Yup. That's the spot. If you go there be sure to stop at the Melrose Diner down the street from Texas Weiners. It's a Philly Food Landmark.

Like I said in the other thread, IMHO, Galloping Hill Inn at 5-points in Union, NJ --- best hot dogs in the world, bar none!!! Right off exit 140 on the GSP.

I settle for one at the Ballpark in Arlington when I watch the Rangers. Is it the best, doubtful but it is what I know.

LA has the best dogs.

Pink's is pretty popular.

Dodger Dogs rock.

Tommy's Burgers sells a great chili dog.

We also have a LA street vendor style dog sold downtown. It's wrapped in bacon and topped with salsa, grilled onions, bell peppers and sometimes guacamole. It is fucking awesome.

Chicago also some great dogs as well. They top 'em with all sorts of crazy shit like tomatoes, dill pickles, mustard, onion...

When I used to live out there I'd hit up Portillos all the time: http://www.portillos.com/

For a great dog, add vinegar and a crushed clove of garlic to the water. Makes a difference and that's what a lot of the vendors use. Also, run a knife down the hot dog before boiling. It'll open up the dog and allow more flavor into it.

I usually take the buns, wrap them in foil and place them into a 200-degree oven so they warm up. I loves me a good hotdog.

Remember... Chicago adds ketchup... New York uses mustard.
