Ethan,
I love your work and first got exposed to it during your tenure on New X-Men. Damn shame we didn't see more of your work on the title...
I picked up the GL Rebirth TP and was wondering why the book took so long to get a TP edition? It's odd to read the copyright compilation dated in 2005 as well as Brad M's forward--but the collection was two years later! It's funny, there's a typo in the Geoff Johns' Bio in the back (began is spelled "Bean.")...plenty of time for editor's to have caught that, huh?

You know that there was a hardcover out first, right?

Fantastic mini.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

I really enjoyed Rebirth. And it really saddens me thinking about how much I loved it, yet how much the regular series bored me. I dunno, Rebirth had so much magic, but for what ever reason, the following ongoing didn't capture any of that.

For whats its worth I felt the same way... until the OYL hit. The book has gotten a helluva a lot better since then.

I was aware of it, yes. I wonder if the Bio typo showed up in that collection as well? I don't know if the series took a long time to its finish in the comic book format, but it seems a hell of a long time passed for any person to be waiting for a royalty check from either collected editions.
Incidentally, my retailer told me (via email) the collected edition came out only 6 months after the comic completed. Somehow I doubt it as the GL artwork is dated 2003/2004.

I'm not sure why the TPB took this long to come out. Maybe because the HC sold very well, and DC estimated that it might be awhile before they should offer it again in another format. Really don't know. I think Identity Crisis, which came out around the same time as the original REBIRTH mini, has already seen HC and TPB formats long ago. So who knows?

There is? How much is it and do they still sell it?

The miniseries shipped from October 2004 to March 2005. I believe the HC came out late October or November 2005. Like Ethan said, DC probably delayed the release of the TPB because the HC was selling well, so why cannibalize sales on an item with a high price point?
