The DVD just won a film award.
Congrats to the filmakers on this the DVD getting this incredible award.
And let me know what you think of this new review.
It is a very favorable review, but I think it is kind of worded funny in parts.
Calling me a chatterbox when I'm answering questions in an interview...

congrats!
i still need to buy this
Since I promised you that I'll let you know what I thought of the DVD, I'll just say it in this thread :D I was kind of putting it off, since I'm not sure how good I will be at this kind of review-- since I'm in awe of you and your work. I know you can't tell because I'm always so goofy around you during conventions. ;]
I've watched it a few times already since WWLA, David, and I just love learning about your parents and your mom's influence on how you work. It was fun to hear your brother talk about you too. I wished they had more people just babbling about you (and more of your secrets!), but I enjoyed hearing all the things you had to say about your own work. It's inspiring, and a lot of the things you say, I take to heart. You make me think a lot (it hurts my head, just to let you know. Haha), about where I'm coming from as a creative vehicle; about how can I deal with my own fears and figuring out where I stand as a student of art. Maybe one day I'll actually come into terms and call myself an artist. Accept the faith.
I really appreciate the DVD, alongside the Kabuki Alchemy series-- gives me some things to turn to when I can't talk to anyone else about the direction I'm heading towards in my own life. Thanks, David. :)

More good news - we just heard that we are finalists at the Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival in Houston. The film will be screened at the event in September. Also, I read talk about live art shows on the Bendis boards. We shot video of Mack, Mahfood, James O'Barr and many more doing live art at CAPE a couple of months ago. Hope to put the footage to good use in the future...

Looking forward to that.
And congrats to you and Sherri for making this DVD seem to resonate with viewers so well. I'm happy for all of your success.
The coolest thing is hearing that people find the film helpful to their own work and motivation.
Good to see you at this past CAPE in Dallas.
I should tell everyone that they can find the DVD at your website, as well as trailers and links to the Terry Moore film as well.
And I should have the DVD at all the cons I do this year for people looking for it there.

I know Mahfood is psyched about you shooting footage of him. I helped him paint a mural for Method Man in LA a couple weeks ago at Golden Apple.
Good to see you at CAPE again.
I'm getting constant great feedback about the film.

Great to hear, David. We recently got another order from Diamond and I just shipped a DVD to the Netherlands, one of many orders from Europe.
The Mahfood footage looks great and the Kevin Smith interview is amazing. And your part in it is cool, too! I hope to have it out next year.
Best,
Greg

Looking forward to seeing the Mahfood "VISUAL FUNK" film!
The Alchemy of Art film seems to be a big hit with schools and libraries.
Doing a Library talk and art exhibit event this week, and a school visit next week.

Greg, thanks for the updated about your signing in Houston with the DVD in May!
Keep me updated on things.
Barron Storey continues to show your film in his class.
And I just returned from lectures, exhibits at HSU where she screen the film and the University Library has the DVD.

Thanks, David. Yes, I think Comicpalooza sounds fun. I had a long conversation with them and they have some great ideas. I hope we get the screening at the Alamo Draft House. That would rock.
We are still regularly getting orders from around the world. Just sent off one to Brazil (and another to Austin).

I think the screening and Q & A at Comicpalooza went great.
The film was very popular at Heroes con this year as well.
People kept stopping by to tell me good things about their experience of this film.
Mainly that it was inspiring to them. Well done!

Thanks, David. It was nice hearing from folks who said they had been profoundly inspired. I haven't done a lot of cons, but it was great to meet some of the folks who liked the DVDs. Thanks again for being the perfect subject.

I'm glad you are getting such good feedback about this.
I still get responses about people being inspired by the DVD too.
I included some in the letters column of the next Reflections book.
