Why the thing on Slott?
Because Avengers: The Initiative #1 has Slapstickin it.
And that's awesome.
Why the SRA being messed up?
Because, essentially, it's a draft.
People who register are having to up and move and change their lives (moreso than when they got powers) and go wherever the government tells them to. And that's messed up.
Discuss.

Agreed on both counts.
And it seems to apply to minors, too.
I hope it was decided editorially and not by Slott that it's a draft.
Since we've been told it isn't over and over.
But yeah, Slapstick all the way!

He was in the Civil War issue of She Hulk last year.

You gotta read She-Hulk & GLA. Slott's Marvel stuff is the best.

Got the GLA mini, but She-Hulk has been too "out there" for me.

Where were we told it wasn't a draft? I thought Marvel was consistent in telling us that it was.

One of the first ones I could find.. there's been a couple of interviews/Q&As where he's stated this:

If SHIELD has need of them for a mission, they have the option of working for SHIELD. SHIELD can't necessarily draft anybody into service--although, depending on the circumstances, there might be times when turning down a SHIELD request would result in the cancellation of their License to operate.

And yet, on the link I provided...
"There are Pro-Registration heroes, and Anti-Registration heroes, and that for every single guy that registered, there is a price to pay. That price to pay is the Initiative. Whether you knew it or not when you registered, by signing that little slip of paper, you’ve been back-door drafted. If you signed up, you’re falling in when you’re called.

Hm. That is inconsistent. I'm hoping this inconsistency wasn't reflected in any of the tie-ins.

It's not a draft.
If you have superpowers, you have to register. That's all you have to do.
If you want to use your superpowers to fight crime or whatever, you have to join the initiative.
So, it's a volunteer thing.

And in response to that, Brevoort said:
No, you still need to read the books before you judge them. Or, to put it another way, which one of us do you think knows more about CIVIL WAR and the way the Registration Act operates, Dan or myself?
Promotional chatter isn't content, and it isn't canon. What's in the books is.
That's why I hope it's not another writer putting their slant on things (JMS's take on Civil War events was drastically different from what went on with the regular title)

I thought this was clear by now.
if you have powers or special abilities and you want to be a superhero, then you must be registered, and you must consent to training. No if's, and's, or but's.
If you have powers or special abilities, but do not want to be a superhero, then you're only required to be registered.

And in response to that, Brevoort said:
My bad.
I always saw it as if there was a national emergency, you COULD be called upon to help.
If you refuse, there should be a center where you can turn in your powers (some device Reed would create)
That way you could get some potentially new characters with old powers, stories about old characters struggling to regain their powers they gave up but changed their mind about (similar to how former mutants in Decimation would try to replicate their powers, etc)
It's not a draft!!!!
If you have superpowers, but don't want to use them to fight crime or anything, the government will leave you alone after you register.
However, if you DO want to fight crime, you have to be trained and get licensed by SHIELD or whoever. When you have a license, they can send you on missions of their choosing.
It's not that complicated. It's sort of like having the ability to shoot a gun. If you just want to sit at home and shoot tin cans with your gun, that's fine, but the gun needs to be registered. If, however, you want to fight crime with the gun, you need to join the army or the police or something, and they'll tell you where to go, what to do, and who to shoot.

hmmm... the news that this is a mini has me the most confused about whether I want to get it or not.
Cause, what, does the Initiative end once the mini ends? That sounds weak. And if not? Then why are they going to restrict the series to a mini?
I'd hate having to wait for a trade if events are going to be pivitol the the current state of MU, but they've got me hesitant so far, Slapstick or no Slapstick.
I thought it was an ongoing title.

No need to be confused: it's now an ongoing.

Marvel Comics informs Newsarama that due to "popular demand and an increased importance in the overall tapestry of the post-Civil War Marvel Universe", the upcoming Avengers: The Initiative limited series has been changed to an ongoing series, adding a third Marvel Universe proper ongoing Avengers title to their line-up.
“With the reader and retailer reaction to the climax of Civil War, and the general interest in precisely what comes next for Tony Stark’s Fifty State Initiative, it only made sense to us to promote Avengers The Initiative to a full ongoing series, rather than just a limited," said Executive Editor Tom Brevoort in an announcement. "The number of story possibilities set in place by the new status quo of the Marvel Universe are almost endless, and we’re sure that fans will want to experience them all along with writer Dan Slott and artist Stefano Caselli.”
Avengers: The Initiative premieres next month on April 4th.

silly Newsarama and their contradictions...... makes me think, if the Thing ongoing had been pitched a couple of years later and tied into CW somehow, then maybe we'd be fortunate enough to still have it as an ongoing.
