I'm afraid of the whining to come with Omega Flight.

I haven't watched either but I hear there's a lot of crying in Torchwood.

Fuck the whinners about oeminga flight... oops i mean omega flight. Seriously what do they want? besides to be transported back in time to when the book they read was magical and to be trapped in a loopd moment forever.

This book will be great, this team is more dynamic(visually) then many of the x teams right now.

But hey, thats the ideas of a mere canadian. what do i know?

I'm old enough to remember when Alpha Flight originally came out and I don't give a shit if there are Americans on the squad. It seems like such a silly thing to complain about.

Whinners? 98% of the fans of alphawaves.com die-hard Omega Flight fans are so behind this.

I actually enjoy the passion fans are showing for the book. If no one cared, we wouldn't be talking about it right now.

even the people who whined about certain details are supporting the comic overall. I myself have 2 copies preordered, lol (not much, I know, but every little bit helps)

I would, because I like sucking up to Oeming.

Yes and yes. I just watched a longer trailer for series 3. Looks like it will be even better than 2.

I don't really have any interest in Alpha Flight but i've enjoyed every thing that oeming has wrote so i'll be getting it. If nothing else it will be fun to watch all the wining.

I found the first couple of episodes of torchwood to be a bit of a let down. However, after that it really picks up. It reminds me of the Wisdom mini series thats out at the moment or perhaps something Warren Ellis would write.

I think the new Doctor Who is currently the best show on television.

Torchwood hasn't aired in Canada yet (that I know of) and I'm dying to see it cause I really like the "Captain Jack" character.

As for calling out "the whiners" that seems a little antagonistic doesn’t it? People will complain about everything and anything I don’t know why AF fans should be singled out above all others. I’ll admit that a lot of the negativity has been turning me off lately, but really it isn’t any more extreme then I have seen elsewhere for other topics.

OMG, ain't that the truth!

You should have seen the outcry on The Dresden Files in SciFi. People were complaining about little differences from the book to the show like how on the show certain characters have different hair color than in the book or how they changes the car Dresden drives.

When you boil down to it, what purpose does it serve? other then to release your daily woes without the fear of physical violence.

Look, I am a huge transformers fan, and when they made changes I was indeed upset, however I am more then open to the idea that they may make this version to this generations standards, and as long as it sparks something in them to go back and see the original show, all the better.

Torchwood can be found on the internet... if your crafty ;)

I'm afraid of the whining to come with Omega Flight.

If Mike reveals that it was Talisman who saved Bill at the end of 'Stormbreaker' (rather than the LOGICAL answer that it was some essence of Thor, since they were, ya'know, in Asgard and Talisman probably has no clue where it is), then I'll tear up the issue to little shreds and personally deliver it to him if he comes to a convention in the Midwest.

(I doubt that'll happen. The hand that touched Bill seemed very manly to me, unless Talisman is using magic to hide her man*hands)

Otherwise, there'll be no whining here. ;]

(rather than the LOGICAL answer that it was some essence of Thor, since they were, ya'know, in Asgard and Talisman probably has no clue where it is),

What? Of course she knows where Asgard is, she knows all realities shown when she had to treck through dozens of them to get back to Earth.

Oh really?

Well, color me clueless then. I have next to no knowledge on any of the Alpha Flight crew, so... sorry. =/

Still doesn't change my opinion that the idea of Talisman being the one to bind Bill to Simon is absolutely ludicrous though. Those hands did not even look remotely feminine either, unless she can also pull a 'Zelda-to-Shiek' on us. (Translation: Is she also able to use her magic to change her gender too?)

well, if it was it makes sense. i'm sure mike wasn't thinking back when storm breaker was released "let me make these the hands of talisman, so in a year or 2 when i write omega flight, which features talisman and bill, it all makes sense"

that would be beyond foreshadowing, it would be a premonition.

just like mike being in the guardian suit makes sense, talisman helping bill does as well, if thats what mike decides to do.

She's the spirit binder she outright contols all spirits. What happened to Bill? He got his spirit placed in Simon Walter plus Mike has gone on record saying these two have some sort of connection, so it's highly likely it may happen.

I think maybe you should check out what Talisman has done in her career. As it makes perfect sense, power and story-wise.

King_Mungi

Whoops forgot the biggest example of Talisman knowing where Asgard is.

She teleported Alpha Flight there to save Northstar from the dark-trolls and monitored from a distance back on Earth with their progress. So yes, Talisman saving Bill makes perfect sense.

You know I like Mike as much as the next person here, but if he were to use that idea, it would REALLY reek of doing it to make excuses as to why Bill is on the team, since he's gotten so much haterade about the choice to begin with. (Not to mention the jabs at Mike for playing favorites. Well, it's no more different than Bendis and the New Avengers, IMHO)

Frankly, while I don't mind Bill being with OF, I think having Simon as a Canadian is enough of a reason, but that's just me.

Really though, it's Mike's call. If he wants to make it so that Talisman pulled a Shiek and changed gender to transplant Bill into Simon, so be it. But if that happens, I'll be putting my money where my mouth is and NOT pick up 'Omega Flight' any longer. And that would be a shame, because I want to support Omega Flight, but you know how personal feelings can sometimes overshadow fandom.

As for all we know, it'll end up being retconned in a few years anyways, so in the end it's not all that important.

And just for the record, I mean no ill will towards anyone here. (Since I know the topic is on the edge of being banned anyways) Agree to disagree? =];;;;

I thought most people liked the idea of BRB being on the team... I certainly haven’t seen any hatred directed towards the choice.

Mek
03-22-2007, 12:18 PM
Ohhh, I've seen it elsewhere, though admittedly -and perhaps thankfully- it's not nearly as vocal as, say, the people who dun' want US Agent on the team.

Most people are afraid ta' say it here though, 'cuz Mike wields the fabled banhammer. ;]

I kid, I kid.

Honestly, I apologize if I came off a little crass. In the end, I'll probably still get OF either way... I mean, I'm THAT transparent.

If you actually drop the book merely because of that one point...wow, that's all I have to say. I have every Bill apperance and I have most of Alpha Flight, and there is nothing wrong with it at all and makes perfect sense.

Also yeah most are happy Bill is in the team, becauses he was in limbo before joining. Hell when alphawaves.com found out there would be an american in the Guardian armor, people were upset but not one threatened to simply drop the book just based off of one point.

Mungi: Eh, I've seen people drop comics because of absurder things. A certain event in 'Annihilation' comes to the forefront of my mind as an example of that. (And trust me: If you think I'm overreacting because of a *maybe*, you should have seen the shitstorm that happened after the 'Annihilation' thing. Threats of book burning, anyone? [I wish I was kidding too. Just search for 'Quasar', 'Phyla-Vell' and 'book burning' at Comic Book Resources])

Besides, didn't you catch my post above saying that I probably will keep reading anyways? (An admission of my own transparency and/or shameless masochism) ;p

Yes, I have heard Annihilation and I didn't care as all what happened would have changed and that small point which wasn't even crucial to the story and doesn't take anything away from the actual book. Quasar will return, he's been back from the dead before nothing has changed.

Well, they ALL come back at one point or another.

In any case, I've had some time to stew on this debate-ish thing during classes and even if I do think the Talisman idea is ludicrous, I have a feeling Mike will find some way to explain it in a manner that's like 'Ohhhhh... now that makes sense!' an' stuff.

In short: I *really* shouldn't jump to conclusions, even if this is something that's not set in stone.

Again, I apologize for my sourpuss attitude and if I stepped on anyone's toes. With only 2-ish weeks away, there's no time to be sour an' crap. Heh. =];;;
