View Full Version : Skills that would necessary for a real life superhero.

I'm in the middle of watching the new James Bond, and after a discussion in school today about how long it would take to become a real life super hero, I got to thinking...what skills would it take? Obviously, free running abilities would help...being able to jump across rooftops and such is an obvious superhero skill. I'd imagine some mix of martial arts would cover close combat, and for ranged combat, they would obviously need to master the bola, throwing stars, and possibly tasers. I am assuming that they would be non-lethal superheroes...so anyway, list off skills that you think would be required of a real life superhero and why.

A complete and utter lack of perspective, believing that you can come even close to stopping crime in any meaningful way with free running and weapons skills.

And if you wear spandex while doing it, a total lack of shame and fashion sense.

Why don't you just say "Being Chuck Norris"?

For all the female superheroes:

Keeping your breasts or vagina from popping out of your rediculous revealing fighting outfit.

Public relations.

Public relations.

I think that one is the most important one honestly. Learn one from Spidey's book. If the public hates your ass, it won't be too long until you go from fighting criminals to being one.

There was actually a story on This American Life about a woman who actually did this. She trained since was a young girl to become as much a superhero (more akin to batman) as a normal person could be. It was really interesting in the fact that she actually accomplished it.

Click on the complete archives on the left. The show is called superpowers, air date 3/17/06. Her story begins at 20:00.

you have to be unnaturally ripped. You need to have muscles in your arms that don't even exist. Plus, you need at least 6 abs, if not 8 or 10. Plus, all of your muscles should be defined enough to show through your costume. An example to follow is below:

note the rippling arms, oh and make sure to have a glowing eye. Everyone loves glowing eyes.
