No Prob. Bru mentioned it in one of his interviews recently. Cool Shit. I'm saying Warpath and Havok don't make it back. And maybe Vulcan Stays with Darwin.

It's a trade that reprints the issues where Beast Becomes Blue, Angel becomes Archangel and Psylocke becomes Lady Mandarin.
shit i remember that. it came out around the same time as x-men 50 right?
(too bad i have all the issues in trade format, or in gambit's case the actual issue)

I'm thinking darwin merges with somebody (either xavier or warpath).
Lillandra and D'Ken will die. Deathbird doesn't want the thrown so she will give it to the General guy. Rachel and her Boy Toy will Run off to Space. Polaris will stay with the Starjammers, but Havok will return to Earth (or visa versa).
If my theory about Darwin merging with Warpath is correct (although i see him merging with xavier), Warpath will stay in space and lead the Starjammers, or will replace the resident blade master on the ship.
Vulcan will be the one who kills D'Ken and Lillandra, I'm not sure why, but he will. He will be imprissoned by the new ruling class but eventualy break out and return to Earth.

with only two issues left of "The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire" left, which of the following people bte the big one? Who does live but fails to come home? What other theories do we have?
Havok, Polaris, Rachel, Warpath, Nightcrawler, Darwin, Vulcan, Lillandra(sp), Deathbird, D'Ken, Rachel's Boyfriend (who's name I can never remember), The assorted Starjammers, the General from the current issue.
(We know Xavier lives (WWH:X-MEN)....and for some reason I wanna say so does Warpath.)
I think Rachel is staying out there, Vulcan is brought back, hopefully Lilandra dies.

I want Rachel to come home. Rachel doesn't need to be out in space. She's a wanted woman. She needs to be on Earth. I just got use to seeing her every month.

Magneto sure seemed to have his powers back, but you're right there's tons of possibiltys about what Magneto did or didn't recieve.
He also needs to hook up with Rogue again...on the side of course :)

mystique was a good series, not great, but not bad either (although there were some DOWN issues).
one of the early issues has mystique remind Chuck that she was not the Mystique involved with attacking Banshee in Paris (and therefore not the Mystique who showed up in the Draco...so hopefully somebody brings this up to do more retconning)

Wasn't Corsi the Anglo cop that Dani Moonstar's demon vear turned American Indian and then stayed that way? BTW, it's a crime against nature that Dani isn't one of the 198. With all the extras Calremont gave her through the years (valkyrie, anyone?) there has to be a power broker out there somewhere who can re-power her. I mean come on, if whiny, needy, Havok-slut Polaris can get her powers back then Dani can too.
BTW, if you were Chuck and after having those amazing mental powers for decades, how long would it be until you hauled out the Mind Gem to get yourself back in business?

Mystique is a bad ass bitch who fucks people up, that's the point of the character. Yes she slit Banshee's throat and killed Moira Mactaggert and Senator Kelly but hey that's called drama!

It seemed BKV's intent was to eventually reveal that there was another shape shifter out there posing as Mystique durring the Dreams End and X-Corps storylines but the Austen directly tied her return in Uncanny to the X-Corps storyline, complicating things. We should most likely for simplicitys sake write that off as he lieing or her being crazy.
As far as Bishop's faimly history... again, for simplicitys sake we should just assume that Monet thing was a mistake on his part. I also do not think Seina Blaze was ever revealed to be from his timeline. That said his past is pretty straight forward and doesn't need to be cleaned up.

so when i got home from work this morning, lacking a computer (grrrr) I decided to reread the phalanx x-over. I've read it several times, and usually love it. But now for some reason it's begun to feel hollow. Granted the "Gernation Next" part still is really fun to read. But the rest (which i was never a big fan of) really doesn't hold up well. For example in "Life Signs" they spend almost three pages in every issues repeating what has happened so far in all the other books. Sometimes in thought balloons, but usualy somebody is speaking and it just made me want to scream. I know that it was from a time back before trades were popular so these narations were needed for people to remember what happened before, but still it gets old fast. "Final Sanctions" still reads fast, but for some reason I just can't get into it.
Because this was a trade version i picked up at Wizard World Boston back in 05 (i have all the issues somewhere safe) it included Generation X number 1. And the art was beautiful. What the hell happened to Bacha..Bacca...the artist? I still think Chmaber has one of the coolest introductions for a character as wel as a design. Emplate I never really cared for, but I remember back when I first bought the issue how much dread he inspired. My only complaint to this day about the first issue of Gen X is that there are NO TREES NEAR LOGAN AIRPORT! The damn place is built on a damn sandbar.
Such a shame that they gutted those characters.
Three members are dead. Jubes is depowered. Artie is depowered. Leech (blah), Husk (double blah), M and Emma are still powered (the last two i liked). Chamber is well potentialy Apocalypse's new body (depending on is they ever continue that storyline). And who the fuck was Gia?
Meanwhile we still have Cannonball runing around with his lame powers and the giat "C" on his unidorm.

i remember loving them, but having to drop them post AoA due to money issues...and girls. I loved every minute of them. And became pissed when bussies of mine would tell me about how M was actualy penance and her twin siblings were M...and, AND arg! So in my mind M was always M and Penance was an Eastern European named Yevette(sp)

I'm enjoying Daniel Way's work (It really does read better in trade) and i love Steve Dillon so i'm not seeing any problems. Throw in Omega Red and Jubilee or so i've heard in this volume and i'm excited.

I've been enjoying Way and Dillon on Origins. It's fun as long as you don't take it too seriously. I think I'd probably lose interest if Dillon were to leave, though.
The latest developments seem a wee bit lame, but I'll give it time to see how it all plays out.

I'd have to agree and might I add that the coloring goes a long way toward that feel. Whatever skill he had with a large cast seems gone and it's so darkly colored that his artistic choices are being made worse, not better. I know an artist like Bachalo wants to move forward, not back but his choices these days are not an improvement. Maybe if he did a solo X-Book?

Thoughts on the last page of this week's New X-Men
So, on the last page we appear to have Amanda Sefton (in full Limbo gear) arrive in our plane of existence in a ball of fire. She warns that "He's back!"
Who do we think "he" is? Sym? N'Astirh? Cameron Hodge...? :mistrust:

It's Belasco. I'll watch lebian porn for six hours straight if I'm wrong.
And New X-Men was my favorite of the thirteen (13) books I bought today. This creative team is creatingbrand new ways to kick ass. I'm just sorry that the artist that is the real culprit behind the New Warriors getting killed is taking oevr half of the artwork next issue.
And Ilyana? Holy fucking mother of god! She's always been one of my favorite characters but an interview with the writers seemed to say the had no interest in writing the House Of M Ilyana but also said theyw ere going to be. I tried looking for a trade with any House Of M Ilyana in it to get prepared (just in case) and didn't see one on the shelf. Any details in case it is an inferior copy of Magik?
And dude? They did you a favor with keeping you away from Origins. I saw the cover and cringed like you wouldn't believe. I gave that series up when instead of dealing with real things from Logan's past they instead made up new things, like that flag faced freak from Daredevil.

Meh, i like Wolverine, i like Omega Red, i Love Steve Dillon. Wolverine Origins has been a fun read for me at least.

Honestly? i read that New X-Men arc and i was baffled :? I haven't been reading the book and had no clue who most of the cast was and like most House Of M tie-ins, it had absolutely ZERO significance to anything coming even close to the main HOM plot.
As for Illyana, aside from her being alive i can barely remember what happened. Needless to say it is NOT essential in any way.

I agree with two of those three. But, man, I frankly cannot stand Wolverine of late. Its a case of overexposure. I cringe when he shows up. Couple that with a story dealing with his past or whatever? Fuck that. I'm so tired of stories delving into his past. Don't they realize its not a mystery at this point? Just saying that book is not for me. I'm still hoping that it's the real Ilyana. I know I've said it before (and I'm warning you, I will be saying it again) but the end of Inferno should not have logically been the end of Magik. I'm hoping we find out she only stayed away because she wanted everyone to think baby Ilyana was her redemption and didn't know of her and Colossus' deaths.
And New X-Men? Wow. Great character moments for Hellion, Mercury, X-2, and especially the White Queen. These guys know how to craft a story like nobody's business. I'm sorry the art is going to be taking such a downward turn with next issue but to be honest, as much as I've enjoyed Medina's art, it's the stories that have me coming back for more!

New X-Men 36. 3.5 out of 5 X’s. The story so far. The same people who created X-23 have been kidnapping mutants trying to create the ultimate mutant killer by grafting the kidnapped mutants powers into one new being. The group has kidnapped Mercury and been testing her liquid metal skin. Meanwhile X-23 and Hellion have been trying to rescue her by using X-23’s underworld connection.
This issue is action packed. We find out that the facility was hired by the late Reverend Stryker to stop a supposed antichrist that will soon appear. X-23 and Hellion break into the facility and tear shit up. They are nearly stopped by Kimura, Hellion proves to be better than anyone thought and actually defeats her. And not giving into X-23s orders to kill launches her away form the building (some 27.3 miles away). They then rescue Mercury but are attacked by 3 of the creatures that were created. The creatures are now composed of liquid metal and cannot be hurt even by 23’s claws. Hellion is injured bad, but still continues to try and fight. When things look bleakest the Astonishing team plus the New X-Men (including elixir) show up t save the day. One of the creatures escapes during the fight. Also during the fight we see Mercury reach out to Hellion, possibly setting up a love triangle between him, X-23 and Mercury. We then go back to the school and mercury vents to 23. Meanwhile Kimura is outside about to shoot 23 when Emma shows up. Emma freezes the girl’s mind and explains to her since she (Kimura) help take away the only people to ever love 23, Emma is going to erase Kimura’s memories of the one person who ever loved her. She then orders Kimura to go kind her accomplices and “handel” them. The second epilogue has Magik crashing down in Germany saying “He’s back”

What X-Overs are still available in trade?
I have Fall of the Mutants, AoA, X-tinction Agenda, X-Cutioner's Song, the Phalenx Covenant(sp) and (sadly) Zero Tolerance.
Somewhere I have every issue of Fatal Attractions (including the xcallibur issue)....btw how does that X-over hold up?
Is Inferno collected? Or The Mutant Massacre?

Mutant Massacre (Uncanny X-Men 210-213; X-Factor 9-11; New Mutants 46; Thor 373-374; Power Pack 27). [From Marvel Comics: The Marauders - professional mutant assassins, employed by a mysterious evil, with the job of wiping out the entire Morlock community living beneath the streets of Manhattan. And the only hope of salvation the Morlocks have rests in the hands of the X-Men! But can they stop this deadly onslaught? And what do they stand to lose if they should succeed?]
Fall of the Mutants (Uncanny X-Men 225-227; New Mutants 59-61; X-Factor 24-26). [From Marvel Comics: Three teams of X-Men, Three tales of tragedy. The story that changed the world of mutants forever. Fall of the Mutants is a classic collection of changes so significant, and losses so bitter, that the aftermath is still felt in the pages of X-Men titles today. Witness the transformation of the carefree, high-flying Warren Worthington II, codename Angel, into the dark and brooding iron-winged Archangel. Relive the misadventures of the New Mutants, as their innocence is lost with the life of a teammate. And watch as the legendary X-Men charge into oblivion to protect a world that fears and hates them. Exhibiting the awesome talents of Louise Simonson, Walter Simonson, Marc Silvestri, Bret Blevins and renowned X-Men scribe, Chris Claremont, Fall of the Mutants is a must-have addition to anyone's bookshelf.]
Inferno (Uncanny X-Men 239-243; New Mutants 71-73; X-Factor 36-39). [From Marvel Comics: The match is struck as the enigmatic geneticist named Mr. Sinister and the demon-lord N'Astirh set their respective master plans in motion - both centered around one woman: Madelyne Pryor, wife of Scott Summers, the X-Man called Cyclops. The flame is fanned as Sinister's agents, the Marauders, attack Madelyne's protectors in the X-Men, while a horde of N'Astirh's demons prey upon the helpless, horrified populace of New York City. The inferno burns as Madelyne strikes her own bargain with N'Astirh, and as the Goblin Queen, threatens to cast a spell that would render the entire Earth a hellish wasteland where demons rule. And the sacrific necessary is none other than her own innocent child, Nathan Christopher Summers! It's the X-Men, X-Factor, and the New Mutants in one of their most harrowing ordeals ever, with the fate of entire dimensions hanging in the balance - and the price for victory perhaps higher than any of them can bear!]
Obviously lots of tie-ins aren't included, especially in Inferno but the rest are pretty complete.

By my quick researching the Mutant Massacre trade is only missing Daredevil # 238.

While Inferno is missing too many to mention, it's the Civil War of the 80's.

Rogue killed that bastard! At least that's how i want it to go.
He was alright and had a decent look as far as character design went but he was pushed way too hard as the next big thing and i usually reject those guys for that reason alone. Not that the X-Men don't need new villains though so i can't blame Chris Claremont for that one.
Eh i changed my mind bring him back, saying Rogue stabbed him through the chest but he recovered or something.

The Children Of The Vault annoyed me for the same reason Vargas annoyed you. They also reminded me of The Neo, another writer's idea of a very cool third race. No one's ever heard from the Neo again and hopefully the Children Of The Vault will relocate to where they are and suffer the same fate.

AS: The X-Men Annual cemented the idea that no new mutants have cropped up since M-Day. Mike’s been leading into this story for quite some time and dancing around it. Now is the time to really dive in. The X-Men now have certainty that they are dying. Now they have to deal with the reality of that knowledge and the weight of it.
NRAMA: So what gets the ball rolling in the one-shot?
AS: In the one-shot, we open on a funeral.
NRAMA: Who died?
AS: I’m not going to lie to you, this isn’t about who died, it’s about the significance of one more mutant’s death in the Marvel Universe. It’s interesting to see who shows up to the funeral and why. What are they after? Is there tension when a villain shows up? Does the House of M event shake Wolfsbane’s faith? How does a school dedicated to new mutants cope with having no freshman class? What do any of them do?
That’s what Endangered Species is about, and it all starts in the one-shot.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________
AS: Right. Endangered Species back-ups start in X-Men #200. They will run through four titles (X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, New X-Men, and X-Factor) for 17 parts total. They will be coming out weekly.
As for what content is in them, the Beast is our point of view character as he tries to track down the cause and then reverse the effects of the disappearance of the mutant gene. It’s a tough story, and it will have plenty of guest stars. It’s intense.
Vonn Hennigar

Paige
Armor

I think Marvel is launching this so they can have a more lighthearted X-Men book on the market for kids, plus by not putting it under the Marvel Adventures line they can hopefully get readers who wouldnt otherwise by a book that is under a line aimed at kids.

I was just testing a theory. It's always seemed to me that Gail Simone appears almost immediately in any thread on any board when her name is mentioned. Sorta like that old horror movie where you said some guy's name in a mirror three times.
And First Class? I like stylized art and Cruz is a lot of fun but those alternate costumes have to go. If you're going to be placing stories up and down X-continuity then they should be dressed like they were in the time period you've chosen. That's what's bugged me about First Class.

dude trust me, saying gail doesn't work. Otherwise she'd show up in almost anythread i am in.
you are better off typing "Ethan"...cause he randomly does show up freakily

Yes! Go Beast!!!

I hate Carey's X-Men book with a passion. Has there been any sense that you have to read all 17 parts or will each book have a seperate four part story? I'd really rather not buy Adjectiveless X-Men unless there's a gun to my crotch or it would save a cute orphan or Gail Simone somehow takes over writing it.

Sigh. :sleepy:
Maybe you can't count. There has been nowhere near 17 parts, as yet, in adjectiveless. Mayhaps you prefer Austen?

has Gail Simone ever written an X-book? I mean besides Deadpool, which has never felt like an X-book to me, not even with Cable shoe horned in. All Cable getting added to the cast made me think of was that they were homaging Power Man And Iron Fist.

If Peter David ever gives up X-Factor, we may need to drive DC out of business so that Gail Simone, the only other writer who could possibly handle the book in a similar way, could take over.

I'm confused about this new X-men event which is coming up.
Do I need to read all the X-books to know what is happening? Or can I just carry on reading X-factor (soon to add Uncanny as well)

it sounds like the x-over will be back up stories in each issue for 17 weeks straight. So to get everything you have to read everything.
Not to worry though...barring another computer crash, I will post full reviews and answer any and all questions you have!

Just for shits and giggles, what is it about Carey's run you dislike so? I dont think it has been great, but outside of the artwork it has been pretty decent month in, month out. It's a major step up from the Chuck Austen/Peter Milligan days.

Stuff from the X-Men panel at WWLA that I found interesting:
"If she said 'no more mutants, why are there 198?" "Read Endangered Species."
This led to McCann and Schmidt polling the audience on if they prefer human Beast, monkey Beast, or cat Beast, with cat Beast getting the loudest negative reaction, and monkey Beast getting a bit of an edge over human Beast.
Will we see more use of Iceman's "omega level" powers? Schmidt: "If you're an Iceman fan, you'll be very happy with X-Men."
"Anything on X-Force?" Schmidt: "There's talk."
"Are any of the mutants joining the 50-state initiative?" Cebulski: "You'll see some of the mutants showing up in different places."
With all his books, "how long until Ed's off X-Men?" Brubaker: "I don't think I'll be off any time soon." :boogie:
"Are you guys going to be doing anything with Sunspot?" Schmidt: "Probably."
Any plans with Dark Beast?" Schmidt: "Yes." Brubaker: "Really?" :ecstatic:
"Any plans for X-Man?" McCann: "Ask Jeph Loeb, he loves him."
"Will there be a poster of the David Finch cover of X-Men #200?" Yes. Schmidt then mentioned that Thunderbird III and Warpath were missing from the cover, but will be added soon.

Damn right. I'm loving it. My only complaint is on the artistic side for the last arc. I dig what Carey is doing.
