House Republicans Look To Pass Internet Hunting Ban
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Some House Republicans hope to pass a bill that would ban Internet hunting in Iowa.
The ban stems from a Texas Web site that was shut down two years ago in which computer users could hunt for live antelope using a webcam mounted on a rifle.
Internet hunting has never been tried in Iowa.
"We just want to make sure it does not happen here in Iowa. I don't know of it happening today. It's a proactive thing we want to get in front of it before it could potentially be a problem," said Rep. Steve Lukan of Dubuque.
Lawmakers said they want to preserve the integrity of hunting in Iowa.
