View Full Version : Any new ideas on who's Ronin?

I think it's either Abe Brown or Bob Diamond because,
Cage is leading the team, he took in Ronin and Ronin doesn't know the other members very well.
So it has to be someone affiliated to Cage/Iron Fist's past, with martial art knwoledge.
There're only the Sons of the Tiger who are possible candidates.

Didn't even THINK about Deadpool. Thats a damn good guess, probably at the top of my list now.

Aside from him, I'm guessing either Blade or Moon Knight.

I wish I could take credit, but G101 came up with it.

The only people I could see saying "Yo, Cage" is Deadpool or Hawkeye, so they're the people I think it is.

I think people are reading into "Yo, Cage" too much. We don't know if the other Avengers even know who Ronin is, or if the person who is Ronin is pretending to be someone he's not among the Avengers. The "Yo" could have been a red herring. I would be surprised if it was as straight-forward as it seems.

I know who the new Ronin is.

The new Ronin is...

Melvin Potter, formerly known as Gladiator. Former Daredevil villain turned reformed friend of Daredevil turned unwilling betrayer of Daredevil.

Last we heard from him he was in jail. He could be out now for whatever reason.

It's not Cap or anyone else that's been on the team before, "Yo Cage, do they always talk this much during a fight?" He's in unfamiliar territory, never worked on a team before.

He has a connection to Matt Murdock and Luke Cage. He knows martial arts. And he probably feels indebted to Matt, and feels that he needs to make up for past betrayals. He's on the team to save Echo for Matt Murdock.

Plus, near as I can tell Bendis likes the character since he resurrected the guy from obscurity during his Daredevil run.

It might be D-Man since DD walks off with him in Pulse and never says where he goes. Probably had him in his closet this whole time.

I really like this theory. The newest solicited cover for Daredevil may wreck that theory, though.

I know. I was expecting Ronin to be Taskmaster the first time around. Now he is even less likely to be part of the Avengers, considering he's already on the Thunderbolts (although he hasn't appeared in Ellis' book).

Angela Del Toro? There's a Murdock connection since she's somewhat like his protege. Saying "Yo, Cage" seems like a normal thing for her. She has a mini that could be setup for a bigger role in the Marvel U. Ronin remains a girl. And NA ought to have another female anyway.

i like your reasoning, though i disagree with your assessment of Bendis' motivation and the final selection. it's no one we've seen on the team before.

ronin is in unfamiliar territory, working with the avengers. he has a connection to cage, murdock, spiderman and cap.

he views cage as a kindered spirit; an urban warrior trying to do right. it is never stated that this ronin was brought on-board by cage.

he has a connection to murdock. he respects him enough to rescue echo, but from his comment "not quite" when asked if he was murdock, he clearly has a few issues with him. it could mean "no, i'm a chick," or it could mean " no, i'm not murdock, i'm someone who could get this job done when he couldn't."

his connection with spidey will come clear soon, i think.

i believe ronin to have been recruited by cap. it has been alluded as such by bendis in interviews. he is a warrior without master, trying to operate within the restrictions of a code of honor. i believe he owes this to cap and wants to prove this to him. he hides his face because the others would not trust him or allow him on the team if they knew his identity, though wolverine must unless the suite has a no scent doo-hickey.

think about the enemy.

think about the whole half of the book leading to the battle where echo describes her purpose; southeast asian organized crime.

this incarnation has also has a connection to southeast asia and organized crime.

if you haven't guessed my choice i believe it's frank castle.
cap beat the sh*t out of him and called him insane. perhaps he is trying to make ammends.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: it's SHIELD Director Maria Hill. She's shown wear from the job, she's even stated she hated the fact she has all the responsibility of SHIELD shoved on her shoulders after Fury was exiled, planting seeds of doubt as to how devoted she is. I'm thinking she knows of the Shield corruption that the New Avengers are tracking down, and she's going to play dual agent with the NA to try and find it.

Deadpool.

Yeah, but his fight banter is almost double what Spider-Man's is, plus I don't think he's made a mainline Marvel U appearance where he isn't talking in yellow, and as much as I love the character, in no way does he deserve to be an Avenger.
