Ms Marvel & Wonder Woman

Being a Ms Marvel fan, I'm wondering with her upcoming role being a prominant one in the Marvel U, I have to wonder if she is/will be THE female hero at Marvel, and if she could ever achieve a Wonder Woman elite-type status?

Wonder Woman? I am sure her title could outsell Wonder Womans, but I can't see her ever being the public sort of icon Wonder Woman is.

Even withing Marvel, she has quite a bit of competition for the top spot with Invisible Girl, Storm and Spider-Woman.

Well, I wasn't necessarily thinking about sales, more of a "how much does this person mean to the Marvel Universe". The ladies you listed are prime examples of top females in the MU; I guess I'm just thinking out loud if Carol has the potential to ever achieve a similar role.

I don't think her image will ever be as squeeky clean as WW, and I'm not sure I'd want it to be. Her past is what makes her real, which is why I buy the title. She's made mistakes, had a rough go sometimes, and is now trying to be what she was during H of M.

Supposedly, the character was wrecked because of an editorial mandate. Busiek decided to restore her after over 20 years. The writers with the most influence now seem to favor her, so she has a real opportunity to grow in the way you like. There is no way of knowing what the next batch of influential writers may chose to do.

If Ms. Marvel really wants to become as famous as Wonder Woman, the first thing she'll have to do is beat Simon in an arm wrestling match.
