Quesada told me 2 years ago that I'd be loving his ass, with me being a Thor fan and all.
Oeming and Di Vito could have had one HELL of a run on that series by now...
I'll guarantee I would be loving Joe's ass a lot more than I am today if I would have got that, instead of only one 6 issue mini series, that was a flashback to a past adventure. My loyalty and good faith was tested when Marvel collectively tinkled on Thor's hammer. I have high hopes for the new series, but this long absense of my favorite character was bad business on Marvel's end.

I have stated this on another forum, so I thought I'd share it here as well.
Did I think Thor would be dead this long? Honestly? No. Marvels death policy being what it is, I saw a new costume, and a relaunched #1 making THOR a mutant in about 6 months time.:)
I have been a THOR fan from the very start of my comic addiction.
The way his death was written, IMO, was so perfectly constructed, that I was honestly hoping that he would STAY dead ala Captain Marvel (although, thats about to change too, is it not?).
I was hoping for Magni would appear in the Marvel universe to claim the hammer of his father once his father (one-armed Lord Thor) came back and stopped OUR Thor from killing Jake.
The tales of Magni trying to get to know his father by taking up the mantle of the protector of Midgard had a lot of potential. His eventual meeting with Beta Ray Bill, his eventual joining of the Avengers, etc. He could get to know the legacy of his father through the eyes of both friend and foe alike.
If a road like that was taken, I would have no problem at all with Thor remaining in his slumber after he completed his last, and greatest journey into mystery.

Thor's exit was perfect, but for such a pivitol Marvel player, there was little to no reaction to his absence. Most characters didn't even know anything was wrong until his hammer returned without him shortly before CW. I would have loved a "World Without Thor" banner running across a few books. Like She Hulk is doing the very logical "World Without a Hulk" storyline in which some of the threats that only the Hulk kept focused on him or kept from escalating personally are now her problem. There were a ton of Earth-bound threats that Thor handled or just his presence kept from getting out of hand. But none of that was explored. Maybe in the next round of What Ifs...

I would have loved to have seen a well planned and executed re-emergence of Thor but this scenario would have been a very attractive proposition if the former had been deemed impossible.

I honestly expected that and it never came. It could have been great. Hopefully JMS' Thor does more for me than his FF and Spider-Man (which unfortunately do nothing for me)
